It’s hard to fathom that real people can be plucked away and exploited for dark, salacious purposes. It’s terrifying for a parent to realize the extreme possibility that any child can, and will be exposed to sexual predation and that an open door is provided by the technology they so easily have access to. Silence is not an option. The Demand Project is fighting for these lives, and invite you to join them in discovering the hero that is YOU.

On June 28, they will host their 8th annual golf tournament at the world-renowned Golf Club of Oklahoma, where participants will “Drive Out Human Trafficking.” The tourney will begin at 8:30 a.m., with an awards ceremony at 2 p.m.  A hole-in-one prize will be an opportunity to drive away in a new car, sponsored by Mark Allen Chevrolet. Mathis Brothers Furniture will be sponsoring numerous contest holes, including Closet to Pin and Longest Drive. Food and beverages will be served. Multiple sponsorship opportunities are available, and individuals and teams can register for 18 holes of play for a spectacular day of golf.

In addition to this year’s tournament, an exclusive women’s “High Tee” event will simultaneously take place in the club house. From 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., ladies may enjoy “High Tee,” an elegant brunch, speakers, and some sophisticated shopping with vendors, such as Kendra Scott, Dillard’s, Salt Earth and Damsel in Defense. “All of our sellers are women-based businesses, and things geared toward women,” said Jamie Miller, Demand Project Donor Developer, Funding Coordinator and Event Coordinator. “You’ll come and shop, and all vendors will give 20 percent of what’s sold that day back to The Demand Project. It’ll be super fun!” Attire for the event will be Kentucky Derby style, with dresses and hats.

“I’ve always wanted to do an event to empower women, and Jamie totally embraced that vision,” said organization co-founder, Kristin Weis. “We want women to leave more joyful than when they came.”

The 8th annual golf tournament and High Tee event are one of the largest fundraisers for The Demand Project, whose mission is to educate, equip, and empower the community on how to stay safe against child predators who seek to harm children, while also supporting the prosecution of these criminals. They are greatly invested in the recovery and restoration of trafficking victims, and in recent years established a safe haven, called Mt. Arukah. The home can protect and serve approximately 60 in need and requires a great deal of financial support to operate.

“Recovery is barely the beginning,” said Kristin. “It’s a lifelong journey of healing, and that healing begins with a community willing to give and help fuel it.” Participation in these events is not only rewarding for the experience, but a chance to become part of the solution, to become a hero in the story of an innocent child. Awareness is key in the fight. “It’s so much deeper than just an event,” Kristin said, “By coming out and enjoying a day, while understanding the problem, YOU can be a part of the solution.”

Registration for the Golf Tournament and High Tee, as well as more organization information and resources, can be found on their website, at www.thedemandproject.org.
