Dr. Russell Cox, owner of Cox Chiropractic, grew up working on his parent’s ranch just a few miles north of Owasso in Talala, Ok.  Originally, he planned to go into Orthopedic medicine, but he was injured in an accident on the ranch when he was 17. He tried several methods of recovery, but the only thing that helped was Chiropractic care. Once he knew how much it helps people, he fell in love with it and decided to be a Chiropractor instead of going into Orthopedic medicine.
On October 10, 2017 it will have been 35 years since he chose to open his practice in Owasso. He also has deep family ties to the Owasso community. Mills elementary is named after his uncle, Jeff Mills. He was also a long time School Board Member at Owasso Public Schools.
Owasso was once a small town with a thriving community, and he has enjoyed watching it become the flourishing city it is today. The thing he enjoys most about his practice are the people, because over the years they have become like family to him.
He is very appreciative of his staff. His office manager Diana Ary has been with him for 5 years. Dr. Cox said, “Diana keeps things running so that I can do my thing. I get to concentrate on taking care of the patient’s needs because she does such a fabulous job.” His wife Christina has recently incorporated essential oils into the practice. She enjoys helping people with a holistic approach in conjunction with chiropractic care. Christina also works to assist with disaster relief efforts. She is currently working to assist the communities affected by the recent hurricaines.
Dr. Cox has two children. His daughter, Lindsey, inherited his entrepreneurial spirit. She and her husband own two businesses in the Edmond area and they have a daughter and a son. They live in Oklahoma City. His son Chris always had a joke on his lips and a smile on his face. When Chris passed away this past April, the outpouring of love and sympathy from the Owasso community meant a lot to him, his wife Christina and Chris’ eight year old daughter. They received over 500 cards from people throughout the community. This made him realize that people really care.
“You make some good friends,” he said. “It’s not just about the medicine. It is about the relationships you build. We are so thankful for the love Owasso has shown to us over the years.” The compassion he was shown by the Owasso community helped him cope with this loss.
Dr. Cox looks forward to serving the Owasso community for years to come.
