The Soundup Roundup Returns to The Church Studio with Three Oklahoma Songwriters

In partnership with Brut Hotel and the Oklahoma Film + Music Office, The Soundup Club proudly presents The Soundup Roundup, an intimate and inspiring evening of music and storytelling with acclaimed Oklahoma artists: Jacob Tovar, Joleen Brown, and John Ferrell.

“We are excited to host an all Okie Roundup here in February! Jacob Tovar is a Tulsa voice that has shaped and helped to preserve the timeliness traditional country sound that Oklahoma has cultivated for decades. Joleen Brown is maybe a new voice to some, but not a new talent. We’re honored to be one of her stops on the way to where she’s going. John Ferrell is a gutsy songwriter with true grit in his vocals and lyrics. Each of them can hold their own in any town - yet we’re somehow fortunate to have all of them right here in Tulsa. I believe this ticket will be one of your most meaningful memories someday,” said Caleb Voth, of the band Voth.

Continuing Tulsa’s first dedicated songwriter’s series in the spirit of Nashville tradition, The Soundup Roundup brings storytelling and song-sharing to the legendary Church Studio Live Room, for an upclose glimpse into the creative process.The Soundup Roundup will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Is will be a one-of-a-kind songwriter’s round where artists share the stories behind their songs, then perform them live. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. Held at The Church Studio, 320 S. Trenton Ave., Tulsa,

Meet the Soundup Roundup Songwriters

Jacob Tovar

Jacob Tovar is an Oklahoma musician known for bringing country music back to its classic roots. His timeless honky-tonk vocals and melodic storytelling have carried him across the Midwest, Europe, and beyond, sharing stages with artists including Chris Stapleton, Hanson, Junior Brown, and John Fullbright. His music appears in all three seasons of FX’s Reservation Dogs, and his recent single “Rock Salt & Nails” was recorded for Sterlin Harjo’s 2025 noir series The Lowdown. A fixture in Tulsa’s live music community, Tovar continues to champion dance-hall tradition and community-driven performance through events like the Tulsey Town Two Step.

Joleen Brown

Joleen Brown is a Tulsa-based singer-songwriter who blends folk, Americana, and red dirt influences into warm, story-forward songs rooted in the musical traditions of eastern Oklahoma. After quietly honing her craft for years, she emerged onto the Tulsa scene in 2023 and quickly became a standout regional voice.
Her 2025 debut album A Good Place to Hide Away, produced by Grammy-nominated Wes Sharon and featuring members of the Turnpike Troubadours, earned praise for its honesty and melodic strength. With growing recognition through screen placements and live performances, Brown continues to build a devoted audience across the region and beyond

John Ferrell

John Ferrell an Americana artist writes songs shaped by endurance, open roads, and lived experience. With more than one million streams across platforms, his work resonates through sincerity and emotional depth.

In 2025, his song “Simple Sweet” was named Best Song in Oklahoma on radio. His music has also appeared in television programming, and after overcoming cancer in 2024, Ferrell’s songwriting carries an even deeper sense of resilience, hope, and humility.
