The Eyes Have It

Arrow Eye Care provides eye care for the entire family.

The Arrow Eye Care staff welcomes everyone to the grand opening celebration August 1 through 9 at their new location in Broken Arrow. (L to R): Staff member Elaine, Dr. Tracy Tran, staff member Ashley and office manager Joni.

Dr. Tracy Tran purchased Arrow Eye Care in April of 2007. The practice has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since; so much so, in fact, that they’ve outgrown their original location and have moved downstairs to a space twice as large. The business is still on the southwest corner of 101st & South Elm and is now conveniently located on the ground level at the northeast corner of the office center.

The public is invited to drop by for the grand opening celebration anytime August 1 through 9 and register for drawings, which will include free eye exams, free contacts, half off on eyeglasses, and half off a Lasik procedure. Dr. Tran performs pre- and post-operative eye exams for those opting for Lasik surgery. All Lasik procedures recommended by Dr. Tran are co-managed and performed by Triad Eye Medical Clinic.

Arrow Eye Care provides eye care for the entire family. Some of their specialties include contacts for dry eyes, astigmatism, and bifocal wearers. They also treat red eyes, caused by eye infections, and eye allergies. Patients can generally make their appointment for the same day they call, and Dr. Tran says that they try to accommodate all walk-ins. Dr. Laura Huggins is an associate in the family eye care practice.

If you’re wondering if you might be a candidate for Lasik surgery, Lasik evaluations are free at Arrow Eye Care. Not everyone is going to be a candidate, but with a free evaluation, there’s really nothing to lose. Get all the facts up-front, including the total cost for the Lasik procedure, and then make an educated decision on whether you want to do it. Arrow Eye Care accepts numerous insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Spectera, and Sooner Care. It is important for everyone to get routine eye exams yearly, not only to check their vision and renew glasses prescriptions, but also for preventative eye health evaluations.

With school right around the corner, Dr. Tran highly recommends a back-to-school eye exam for all children, especially those entering preschool. “Free school screenings are important, but are not comprehensive. Focusing problems, straining problems and headaches can occur even if your child has 20/20 vision. These problems cannot be detected by screenings,” she said.

A complete back-to-school eye exam can also detect problems such as lazy eye. The earlier it is detected and treatment is started, the greater the potential for vision correction. This particular problem is most successfully remedied if diagnosed and treated prior to age 10. “The younger the better,” said Dr. Tran.

Although younger children cannot verbalize exactly what they’re seeing, sophisticated diagnostic equipment can pinpoint vision problems without the child’s verbal communication. Pre-kindergarten is a great time to schedule a child’s first eye exam, especially if there is a family history of eye problems, or if the parents suspect a potential vision problem.

Dr. Tran is a native of Tulsa and attended the University of Tulsa. She received her optometry degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Dr. Tran, Dr. Huggins, and the entire staff of Arrow Eye Care hope you’ll take time to visit their new office and get acquainted during the grand opening celebration August 1 through 9.
