Lisa Navrkal and Deb Marshall enjoy the Taste of Bixby while greeting guests.

Sponsored by the Bixby Chamber of Commerce, the Taste of Bixby food festival was held June 7 at Washington Irving Memorial Park and Arboretum. Stations for each of the 15 vendors were set up for the evening, allowing guests to sample a variety of different foods and beverages. Beginning with appetizers and ending with cookies, cake and ice cream, attendees could try many different foods and beverages from merchants in Bixby and South Tulsa. Just a few vendors present included Savastano’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Ludger’s, Chili’s, Anheuser Busch, Michael V’s, Hideaway Pizza and Starbucks.

As her last event to host while still working at the Bixby Chamber of Commerce, Deb Marshall greeted guests at the festival’s entrance. Joined by Lisa Navrkal, the two directed attendees to Lisette’s Simple Pleasures for appetizers, the first stop at the Taste of Bixby. Marshall has left her position as president of the Bixby Chamber and will begin working at the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce beginning July 1. In the interim, Navrkal has assumed the role of president.

The Taste of Bixby left many guests satisfied and with full stomachs. As this was the first ever Taste of Bixby event, it is believed that the tradition will be held again next summer.
