If you’re looking to spruce up your home’s interior style and maybe save some money on energy costs, plantation shutters may be just what you’re looking for. Derrick Lockwood specializes in high quality plantation shutters that are made right here in Green Country.

“Plantation shutters add value to your home, and they’ll save you on energy costs,” says Lockwood. “They never go out of style.” For seven years, Lockwood’s family has been in the plantation shutter business. “My father-in-law worked in a trim shop,” says Lockwood. “He’s always been in woodworking. He saw the demand for plantation shutters. My mother and my father-in-law owned the business, and now I’m taking it over.”

You won’t have to worry about what size your windows are. “All of our shutters are custom-built to fit your windows,” says Lockwood. “We don’t have any ready-made shutters. And for doing it all custom, we have a short turnaround time. Depending on how many windows you have, from start to finish it could be a week or two weeks.” It all happens locally, too: these shutters are made by hand in a shop just south of Bixby.

“We use only durable, high-quality materials,” says Lockwood. “We use stainless steel hinges and eyelets, so they won’t pull apart. We also have a lot of selection. We can mount stationary or hinged shutters, and we have a lot of wood choices. And all the shutters are handmade.” Woods available include white oak, mahogany, soft maple, cherry, knotty pine, walnut, ash and red oak. “You can paint or stain the shutters any color you want,” says Lockwood.

With energy costs rising, plantation shutters may be a way you can save money. “Plantation shutters pay for themselves in a couple of years with the money they save you on energy,” says Lockwood.

The list of services Lockwood offers is expanding. “We also do outside shutters in many different styles,” he says. “And soon we’re going to be able to do custom art and carving designs on the plantation shutters. This will really let us give you some elegant styles.”

Lockwood is also owner of Bath 911, a company that remodels bathrooms. “Since I’ve been with Bath 911, when we’ve gone into people’s homes, I’ve really seen the demand for good quality shutters and window coverage. And there’s demand for good customer service, too.” Lockwood stands by his products and service. “We do have excellent customer service,” he says. “And all our shutters come with a five-year, no-questions-asked warranty.”

If you think plantation shutters might be right for your home, give Derrick Lockwood a call. “We have free estimates, and right now we have three months same as cash,” says Lockwood. “For the next three months, we’re offering discounts per window.”
