There is a hint of spring in the air, the winter storm debris is gradually disappearing and everyone is ready for a new start. Your home might enjoy a little spring renewal as well. Interior Designer Linda Butcher believes that a home reflects the personalities of those who live there. Everything from wall color to accessories to furnishings says something about you. If your home isn’t saying what you’d like it to, Linda is the designer to call.

Linda Butcher has been in the home decorating business for over 30 years, starting out in the Houston, Texas area with her own floral and interior design studio. When she relocated to Oklahoma 24 years ago, she decided to focus solely on her flair for interior decorating.

Linda explains that many people watch the home shows on television and want to replicate the look themselves but just don’t know where to start. There seems to be an idea that everyone can just “do it themselves” and make it look like it does on TV, but in reality it’s not that simple. There are many options and products available in flooring, lighting, wall treatments and window dressings. It can be overwhelming, but that’s where Linda steps in. “I look at a family’s needs and help determine a plan to coordinate everything from furnishings to the finishing touches. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! That’s what makes a room.”

Linda goes to market on a regular basis and orders her furnishings and accessories from a variety of market sources, assuring that your room will not look just like your neighbors. Custom bedding and draperies are a specialty.

Linda works with Katherine Troglin, her full-time assistant, on all her decorating jobs. Having two people to decide on unusual accessory pieces and to work on big projects has been invaluable to Linda’s success.

“A home will tell you how it should be decorated – you just have to listen closely to what it has to say,” says Linda. She starts with a free consultation with the client to help set the budget and make a plan of the project. “My goal is to give my client the look they want. I don’t push “trends”. I find what works best for each client to make them happy and relaxed in their home.”

That attitude and Linda’s enthusiasm for her work has led to success… and a wealth of experience. While some decorator’s have a “signature look”, Linda has worked with an enormous variety of styles in everything from private homes to corporate offices. She says there is no such thing as one “right” style. Each room has its own unique architecture, furnishings, color scheme and existing items that need to be incorporated into the new design. Sometimes clients think they have to throw everything out and start over to get a designer look. Not true. Being surrounded by things that have personal meaning to you is what makes your home special.

Linda said a common question is “Can I have your help with just one room?” It seems to be a common misconception that you must be redecorating an entire home before you can call a professional decorator for help. Absolutely not. Linda can work with clients to develop a plan for one room or an entire home or office.

While some clients decorate their homes for their own pleasure, some use Linda’s services to prepare a home for the market. Linda can help get things in top shape to let prospective homebuyers imagine the home’s possibilities.

Other clients have Linda decorate their vacation, retirement or lake homes and traveling out of state is not a problem. Linda said she has taken on many projects as gifts for loved ones. Husbands who want to do something special for their wives, children who want to thank their parents in a unique way and she always finds it rewarding. “I’ve done projects for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements and housewarming events. It’s a wonderful gift because they can enjoy it every day.”

Commercial clients turn to Linda as well to help make that all-important first impression. Whether starting a business or redecorating to keep things looking fresh, Linda can help business customers look as successful as they are striving to be.

Linda will work within your price range and is available for residential and commercial projects locally or wherever you may need her services. Call her today to get your home or office talking.
