With the promise of warmer weather and the return of green leaves and colorful flowers, Claremore residents are itching to get back out into the community and enjoy what it has to offer. Spring Break will be here before we know it, and both Wendy Woody and Tanya Andrews at Visit Claremore have ideas on how to spend it.

“From the playgrounds to the fitness center, you can’t go wrong enjoying the beauty of Claremore Lake,” Director Andrews said. “Bait a hook and cast your line in the sunshine.” Andrews also encourages residents and visitors to check out one of the many boutiques and eateries in the Lilac District, and tour local museums and attractions, such as the Claremore Museum of History and Ed Galloway’s Totem Pole Park in Chelsea. Other fun activities to enjoy during Spring Break is taking a mountain bike ride along the 15+ mile single track trail along the east banks of Claremore Lake, as well as packing a picnic lunch to enjoy at Shepherd’s Cross.

Marketing Manager Woody said Will Rogers Memorial Museum will be having their own Spring Break event as well, March 13-17. “During the day, Monday through Friday, the museum does their spring break activities,” she said. “They’ll have a talent show on Friday.” And to end Spring Break, March 18-19, Claremore Expo Center will be hosting the SpringFest Hunter Jumper Horse Show. “It’s a schooling show,” Woody said. “Horse trainers and their horses do clinics for the younger ages. The group that puts it on usually does it in February, but this is the first time they’re doing it in March and it’s a big show.”

Whether you prefer to spend a day in nature, explore local history, attend events and shows, or stroll the streets of downtown for food and shopping, there’s something for everyone in Claremore and Rogers County.
