The City of Broken Arrow invites you to the 9th annual “Chalk It Up!” An Art Festival and the 7th annual Broken Arrow Rose Festival.

ArtsOK, the Regional Arts Alliance of Broken Arrow’s “Chalk It Up”, an Art Festival and Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful’s Rose Festival, presented by Walmart, is a celebration of our city’s love of the arts and roses.

Festivals begin on Friday, October 1 at 5 p.m. as chalk artists begin their creations on the pavement of Main Street, and Rose Festival activities start by welcoming with free Rose Bracelets, Kid Zone (crafts and free kites to decorate for Sunday’s Kite Event) and taking entries for the Rose Show.

Enjoy food trucks, art vendors and Inspyral Circus Street Performers performing a light show at 8:30 p.m. This is a family event and is free to the public.  It will take place from Commercial to Fort Worth on Main Street in Broken Arrow, right down the middle of the Rose District! “It’s fun to watch the artists develop their amazing artwork”, said Jennifer Deal, Chair of the Chalk It Up Committee!

Saturday, October 2, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to watching the chalk artists create their works, enjoy a Rose Festival Art Exhibit at The Museum, a fun Rose Show (bring your roses between 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.), rose garden information and free Kid’s Zone with kite decorating and crafts. Inspyral Circus Street Performers include our very own stilt-walking Rose Prince & Princess. Rose Show winners are announced at 1 p.m. and Rose Art Exhibit winners are announced at 2 p.m. Chalk artists complete their competition pieces by 2:30 p.m. for judging with winners announced at 4 p.m. Beverly Forester, chair of the Rose Festival committee exclaimed, “It’s so amazing to see our beautiful, award-winning Rose District filled with roses, art, kites, music and fun!”  Food trucks, artist booths and market vendors will be part of the Friday and Saturday events. The Rose District Farmers Market will also be open on Saturday.

Variety of artists:  Chalk artists drawing on Main Street pavement, art contest at The Museum, and local art and craft vendors.  Our main stage features local musicians and dancers plus performance artists throughout the event (living statues, stilt walkers, jugglers, unicyclist, hoopers and more).

Local restaurants will be offering delicious food, and many of the unique shops in the Rose District will be offering specials during these events.

Sunday, October 3, 10 a.m. to
4 p.m., the Rose Festival moves to the Event Park (21101 E 101st) for Rose Kites Over Broken Arrow. Free kites to decorate and fly. Tulsa Wind Riders and Kite Artists fly their largest kites. Kite artist Catherine Grabel said, “It’s so fun to see the sky full of colorful kites and hear the laughter of the children!”
