If you ask kids what “back to school” means to them, don’t expect to hear about books, clubs, teachers, or even friends – not at first anyway. The biggest thing on every student’s mind this time of year is how they’re going to look in their new back-to-school clothes. Another fall semester is upon us, so it’s time to pack up the kids and head to the mall in Tulsa, right? Wrong!

Emily’s Playhouse, located in the heart of Claremore in the Ne-Mar Shopping Center, has all the latest must-haves for back to school. The store carries the trendiest brands and styles in boys’ and girls’ clothing, accessories, backpacks, jewelry and more. “Fashion is important to kids, especially when school starts again. The right clothes can make them feel happy and confident,” said Cindy Rickard, owner of Emily’s Playhouse. “And we don’t want our customers to have to drive to Tulsa to find what they need. We offer small-town service with a big-city selection right here.”

New to Emily’s Playhouse is a line of jeans called Pinc, designed specifically for tall, slender girls. “Pinc is really fashionable this school year,” said Cindy. “All girls love baby-doll dresses with leggings right now. They adore our dresses by Bonnie Jean.” Other popular brands available for young ladies include Roxy, Le Top, CR Kids, Cach Cach, Baby Nay, Rothschild, and Laura Ashley. Girls’ clothing ranges from newborn to size 16.

Boys have an affinity for the Quiksilver brand, which offers the coolest surfer and skater style clothes around. Additional clothing lines available for boys include Eddie Bauer, CR Sport and Boutique Collection. Sizes for boys range from newborn to size 7.

Specially-designed dressing rooms make trying on back-to-school clothes an awesome experience. The girls’ room features a young diva checking her reflection in the mirror and proclaiming, “A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!” The boys’ side features a whimsical, relaxing fishing scene.

Every kid knows that while clothing is the main attraction, accessories can make or break an outfit. One of the most important accessories for school is the backpack. It must be strong and durable to support loads of books, and it definitely must be stylish – it’s an everyday accessory, after all. Emily’s Playhouse offers a wide variety of high-quality backpacks from Hello Kitty, Quiksilver, Roxy and more.

Emily’s Playhouse also has a great selection of kids’ jewelry to choose from. “High Intensity chain bracelets and charms are well-liked,” said Cindy. “In-Dear-Rings are also really popular. This line offers rings, necklaces and bracelets with interchangeable magnetic pieces.”

Girls can’t help but love the store’s large selection of hair bows, ties and headbands. Most of the hair accessories are made by a local company, Bippity Boppity Bows by Karen Swift. Customers can even special-order bows to match a specific dress.

Hello Kitty is always a fashionable accessory choice. Emily’s Playhouse carries Hello Kitty backpacks, notepads, paper, pencils and more. A variety of purses, stockings, jewelry boxes and lunch pails from a number of brands are also for sale.

In addition to clothing and accessories, the Playhouse carries a full line of kids’ toys, including Woodkits by Action Products, Papo action figures, and Webkinz Adopt-a-Pet computer games. Kids’ books by such publishers as Chicken Socks and Piggy Toes Press are also available.

Emily’s Playhouse is located at 991 W. Will Rogers in Claremore. Store hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
