The Sea Chanters, the official chorus of the United States Navy, will be performing at Faith Church in Glenpool at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3. Admission to this event is free, but tickets are required. You can get your free tickets by dropping by Faith Church at 1901 W. 171st St. S. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 767, Glenpool, OK 74033.

The United States Navy Band chorus, the Sea Chanters, performs a variety of musical styles, including traditional choral music, Broadway musicals, and sea chanties. The Sea Chanters have performed at many of America’s most important events, including President Barack Obama’s inauguration in January, where they sang the national anthem.

The Sea Chanters began in 1956 when Navy Band Assistant Leader Harold Fultz organized a group to sing patriotic songs for the State of the Union dinner. After immediate success, this group was transferred to the Navy Band. Since then they have traveled the world, promoting the tradition and heritage of the United States Navy.

Johnny Carnes, director of ministries for Faith Church, says, “We at Faith Church have a lot of gratitude for those in the Armed Forces. We try to go out of our way to support and recognize their sacrifices. We’re proud to be involved with this performance. And this is an excellent show. ”

Johnny Carnes, director of ministries at Faith Church, and Carol Campbell, executive director of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce, share hosting duties for the Sea Chanters performance.

Faith Church is hosting this event in conjunction with the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce. “We really try to support our community,” says Carnes, “and that includes the Glenpool Chamber. At Faith Church, we have plenty of space and plenty of parking, and we do graduations, high school band concerts, and other kinds of concerts. We never charge for community organizations to use our facilities.”

Carol Campbell, executive director of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce, says, “This is a very professional show. We’re thrilled to be able to promote our town through this event. The Sapulpa ROTC has been invited to be the color guard for this event. Country Mart and Subway will be donating food, and Faith Church is providing the drinks.”

Tickets for this event are available as space remains. But get yours early – the Glenpool Chamber expects over a thousand people to attend, and Faith Church seats 1,600.

Doors for this event open at 6:30 p.m. The show begins at 7 p.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes.
