J & J  Pharmacy and Gifts has long offered a unique experience to shoppers at Ne-Mar Center in Claremore, blending the practical with its pharmacy and the fun with its boutique. Now, owner Patsy Daniel is pleased to welcome Mandi Pritchard as sales and marketing director, to help spread the news even further about this Claremore institution.

Mandi’s main goal is to bring J & J  Pharmacy and Gifts into the technological age by marketing and establishing a place for J & J within the realm of today’s social media. She recently instituted an email marketing campaign and started a Facebook page. “I want to increase awareness not only in Claremore, but in surrounding towns,” says Mandi, who will keep customers informed of big sales and coupons through both email and Facebook. “I also try to give Facebook fans something of value besides just promotional offers.”

In order to accomplish added value on Facebook, Mandi includes more than simply information about J & J ’s products; she adds interesting information on items and how to use them. “It’s not just about the store, it’s about what we do,” says Mandi. “For instance, I recently added tips on how to best use the jewelry we sell, including what jewelry looks good with what clothing.” Another example can be found with the Booginhead line of baby products. “A lot of celebrities use these products,” Mandi points out. “Customers are always interested in knowing fun facts like that.”

J & J ’s Facebook page features Fashion Friday, highlighting the latest fashion boutique items available and tips on fashion in general. Mandi also endeavors to incorporate plenty of information about the pharmacy section of the business, since that is J & J’s foundation.

Mandi is an area native who graduated from Claremore High School in 1999. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in journalism from OSU, and then set to work building her career in marketing, spending several years in Kansas City. She returned to Oklahoma, where she became the marketing director for Cindy Morrison, former Channel 8 News personality. She also worked as event coordinator for Tory Johnson of “Good Morning America,” who is now CEO of Spark and Hustle, a business that hosts conferences for women entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Mandi had been working for Cindy and Tory for a year when her mother, who worked at J & J  Pharmacy, contacted her about the need for a marketing director. “I have known the Daniels’ since I was a child,” Mandi relates. “And since I was getting married, I was really excited about the possibility of being back in Claremore.” Mandi’s desire to move back home surprised her a bit, as she never expected to move back to Oklahoma. But as she began thinking about starting a family, her love for the small town of her birth drew her back to where she could be around her family. “I’ve been back in Oklahoma for three years now, and I will never leave again,” she says.
