Debby Blair, general manager of Claremore’s Comfort Inn, says the hotel accommodates visitors traveling Route 66 from around the country and the world.

Route 66. To those of us from the area, the words hardly seem novel; the strip of highway they refer to has been a part of our lives for as long as we can remember. So it may come as a surprise to many that people travel from all over the country and the world to traverse this well worn, historic path. And for those who choose to stop to see Claremore’s many marvelous attractions – Will Rogers Memorial, J.M. Davis Gun Museum, Claremore Expo, Will Rogers Downs – there is a top-quality lodging option: Comfort Inn by Choice Hotels.

According to Debby Blair, general manager of Comfort Inn, all types of interesting people choose Comfort Inn on their way through Claremore. “International motorcycle groups from countries like Norway and Spain have visited us,” she says.

It is no accident that these groups have begun choosing Comfort Inn as a resting place. Formerly Days Inn, it was purchased by Promise Hotels of Tulsa in November, 2008 and converted to a Choice Hotels Comfort Inn in May, 2009. It has been completely renovated to Choice Hotels’s high standards. Debby reports that the only thing Comfort Inn retained from Days Inn was the staff, “which is unusual, since everyone usually loses their jobs in the hotel business when the hotel changes hands. Luckily, we have a wonderful owner who understands the importance of having seasoned staff.”

Everything else has been remarkably transformed. The Days Inn building was completely gutted from top to bottom and now boasts many great amenities, including a business center, a seasonal outdoor pool, free wireless high-speed Internet all throughout the building, a guest laundry room, and much more. Each room also includes a safe for valuables, which Debby reports as a very popular feature. “Safety seems to be a hot button issue these days,” she says. “People love the security of knowing they can lock their things up and not have to worry about them.”

Comfort Inn is a great place for gatherings, business or pleasure. One thousand square feet of meeting space is available for family reunions, corporate meetings, and wedding receptions, just to give a few examples. Debby points out that Comfort Inn is the only hotel in Claremore with meeting space, and the rates are extremely reasonable.

Comfort Inn also added suites when they converted the property. According to Debby, there are five Family Suites with sleeper sofas and king-sized beds. “These are great for families coming through for vacations or for sporting events,” she says. She also mentions the Jacuzzi Suite, which is popular for honeymoons, anniversaries, or special romantic getaways. No matter what your reason for staying at Comfort Inn or which type of room you choose, a free breakfast bar is available, including a hot continental breakfast with waffles, danishes, bagels, muffins, plenty of protein items and much more.

If you or someone you know will be traveling through and needs a place to “kick back” on Route 66, be sure to give Debby Blair a call at Comfort Inn by Choice Hotels in Claremore, where quality amenities and service are a standard part of your accommodations, rather than just a luxury.
