Nelson Nissan service team: Service Manager Mike Gaddy and Service Advisers Deanna Porter and Justin Kennedy.

Members of the Nelson Nissan service team are pleasant, outgoing and helpful. Five-year Nelson employee Mike Gaddy was promoted to service manager in January of this year. According to Gaddy, “Nelson Nissan has built an outstanding reputation in the community by providing customers the courtesy and honesty they desire from an automotive dealership. I believe our customers genuinely appreciate the way we conduct business.”

Nelson’s service team consists of a service manager, two service advisers, four service technicians, and an oil change technician. Each technician travels to Dallas two to three times per year for training at Nissan’s regional headquarters. During that time, their skills are updated on servicing new model year introductions.

When you bring your Nissan vehicle to Nelson for service, you will be promptly greeted by a service adviser, whereby you can explain the problem or service needed for your car. If possible, you will be given cost information on the spot. If a diagnosis is needed to determine the problem  with your vehicle, you will be called with a detailed explanation of the recommended work and the total expense for parts and labor, prior to any actual service being performed on your car. Once you have approved the work and the cost, Nelson will make every effort to get your vehicle back to you the same day. They also furnish a shuttle service that will take you home or to work. If you are having extensive repair work done, rental cars are also available on site.

Gaddy also announced that the Nelson service department put their newly acquired nitrogen system into service in March. When tires are filled with nitrogen, they hold recommended tire pressures longer than air-filled tires, therefore theoretically extending the life of your tires. In addition, nitrogen tires may possibly improve gas mileage, because testing has shown that not maintaining recommended tire pressure has an adverse effect on gas mileage. When using nitrogen in your car’s tires, vehicles equipped with in-dash tire monitoring systems will become less active, because the tires maintain recommended pressures longer.

Also, Nelson’s wheel alignment rack is scheduled to receive an update to allow it to be used on the new Nissan GTR, a sports car scheduled for introduction as a 2009 model. The sporty car is said to be even lower than the popular Nissan Z350, therefore necessitating an overhaul of alignment equipment so it can be used on the new vehicle.

The Nelson service department is completely outfitted with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, enabling technicians to perform all services required for today’s “computerized” vehicles. Two of the four service technicians have earned master technician designations. A Nissan dealership cannot sell Nissan automobiles unless they have at least one master technician in their service department. Each Nelson technician receives Nissan factory training, enabling them to work on any Nissan product.
