Pet Stop owner Sara Wilson can help customers get on the right track to care for new puppies, such as these two cuties.
When you want good advice and good products to care for your pet, Pet Stop is the place to go. For 13 years Pet Stop, 12701 E. 86th St. N., has served the Owasso community. In July owners David and Sara Wilson opened a second location in Broken Arrow at 2039-B W. Houston, the southeast corner of 81st and 145th Streets. “Customers tell us all the time how much they appreciate that we are there,” says Sara.
Pet Stop is not your ordinary pet store. Unlike chain stores that respond to orders from national headquarters, Pet Stop responds to orders from local customers. “If someone wants me to keep a certain type of food on the shelf for them, I’ll do it,” Sara says.
Long-time customers have come to expect Pet Stop to go above and beyond. And they do. Every member of the staff – whether full time or part time – goes through vigorous training in animal care, customer service and animal nutrition. Among many other things, they learn how to observe an animal and how to question pet owners to be sure they are purchasing the right products. The objective is to develop long-term relationships and help people be responsible pet owners.
Staff members also attend monthly training sessions for nutritional products. The bar is set high, but Sara’s goal is for all employees to be on the leading edge of animal care. If a staff member does not know the answer to a customer’s question, the next step is to ask a manager. Together, they will find an answer.
Dog food brands at Pet Stop include Science Diet, Eukanuba, Pro Plan, Natural Balance, Wellness, Pinnacle, Eagle Pack, Holistique Select, Taste of the Wild, Merrick, Nutro, Bil-Jac, Premium Edge, Diamond, Diamond Naturals, Royal Canin, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul, Advanced Pet Diet, Pedigree, Dealer’s Choice and Muenster.
There are lots of accessories, too, such as collars, leashes, sweaters, doggie doors, crates, taxis and quality toys for fun and exercise.
Besides supplies, Pet Stop also offers animals for sale. Dogs come from reputable breeders that are hand selected and closely monitored.
Common and exotic birds and fish are also available, as well as all the supplies for them. Pet Stop even carries an impressive line of reptiles and everything they need.
A layaway plan secures all dry goods and animals until you are ready. Sara encourages a gift certificate if you’re thinking of presenting someone with a furry gift of love this Christmas. The new pet owner can meet and greet the animals and discover which one he or she wants to adopt.
There are also special gift certificates from Santa. The jolly old gentleman will make a personal appearance for photos at the Owasso store on December 12 from noon to 2 p.m. Santa will be at the Broken Arrow store on December 13 from 2 to 4 p.m.
While you’re at either store, be sure to pick up an item or two for the Angel Tree. Ward Wiseman Animal Haven will be the beneficiary of Owasso's Angel Tree. Pet Stop is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
