Portraits of a Garden Photography Contest

Do you love taking pictures with your camera?

All amateur photographers are invited to participate in Tulsa Garden Center’s Portraits of a Garden amateur photography contest. The final day to submit entries is January 20, 2009.

Do you love taking pictures with your camera? Are you especially interested in photographing nature, beautiful flowers, shrubs, birds and water? Why not enter Tulsa Garden Center’s annual photography contest! Amateur photographers of all ages are invited to share their garden images with the Tulsa area public during the Portraits of a Garden amateur photography contest and exhibition at Tulsa Garden Center. The opening reception will take place January 22, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m., and the winners will be announced at 5:30. Exhibition days are January 23-24 and 27-30, Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Photographers’ entries may be submitted to Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 S. Peoria Ave., on the following dates: Tuesday through Saturday, January 6-10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday through Saturday, January 13-17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, January 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Portraits of a Garden contest is divided into the following entry divisions: Seasons in the Garden, Woodward Park/Linnaeus Teaching Gardens, Winged Things in the Garden, Water Features, Digitally Manipulated Photos, General Garden Photos, Youth Ages 12 to 18, and Children under 12.

All entries must present a garden theme. Prints may be color or black and white. All prints must be matted with black or white matte; no frames please! A maximum of 3 submissions per division per entrant is allowed. Fees are $5 per entry or 3 for $10. All entrants grant Tulsa Garden Center permission to use images for publicity and fundraising purposes. Entrants should indicate top of submission for placement purposes. All entries should have signed application form, available at Tulsa Garden Center or online at  www.tulsagardencenter.com, attached to each entry. Entries must be claimed February 3-14 during regular business hours (Tuesday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.). All entries not claimed before February 17 become the property of Tulsa Garden Center.

“Winged Things in the Garden” is one of the eight entry divisions of the Portraits of a Garden amateur photography contest. The exhibition takes place January 23-24 and 27-30 at the Tulsa Garden Center.

Cash awards will go to first place winners in each division, Best in Show and People’s Choice. There will be first, second, third and honorable mention ribbons awarded in each division.
