Travis Parks, owner of Parks Portable Buildings, says the family-owned company’s buildings are made to stand the test of time.
For 17 years, Parks Portable Buildings has been providing Rogers County and its surrounding areas with quality portable buildings, built to last right along with your home. But the Parks family itself has been a fixture in the community for much longer, with business ties going back five generations to a harness business in Chelsea. Now the portable building business, which has shared housing with the Parks family’s cabinet making business, is making a move to its very own location in the Rogers County Industrial Development Incubator Building.
“Through the Incubator Program, Rogers County Industrial Development helps you ‘incubate’ or ‘hatch out’ a new or growing business,” explains Travis Parks, owner of Parks Portable Buildings, adding that Northeast Technology Center Business Development Program has provided oversight, guidance and counseling for this expansion. “We are moving forward into a major growth phase and are looking to expand to 9 to 12 displays by the end of the year.”
This expansion is expected to help Parks Portable Buildings build its reputation for quality even further. Travis points to solid construction as the reason clients keep coming back and referring their friends. “One of our buildings is typical of home construction – if you are building a house, it is not uncommon to build it like this,” he says, pointing to pressure treated skids, 16-inch studs, 24-inch on-center studs, 3/4-inch tongue and groove flooring, 7/16-inch OSB roof decking, high-grade framing lumber, smart panel siding and trim, and 30-year laminate shingles as part of standard construction.
Parks will also build to match your existing home. “One thing we do that other companies often do not is custom fit to your needs,” says Travis. “We will match your paint and shingle – in fact, we can pretty much do anything you need.”
“If we build a building for you, it is going to be there a long time,” Travis states. “If you’re going to put your belongings in there, you need them to be well protected.”
Travis also points out that they haven’t forgotten the word “portable” when they create these buildings. “We just moved a building we made ten years ago,” he recounts. “It moved well and was in great shape. These buildings don’t fall apart.”
At Parks Portable Buildings, they understand that it can be hard to come up with the money or financing for a portable building in this difficult economy. That’s why they provide a rent-to-own program with no credit check. For a small security deposit, followed by low monthly payments, you can have a mini-warehouse on your own property for a price comparable to what you would pay to rent storage space elsewhere. “This is an alternative to rental storage in your own backyard,” says Travis. “And we take care of all the details – if you encounter a problem, you are not talking to strangers. You are talking to us.”
