A toddler smelling flowers, brilliant colors of fall leaves, snow packed trees shimmering in the winter light or a bed of spring tulips. During every season the images of our world change. Do you view nature through the lens of a camera and make moments stand still? Share your garden images with the Tulsa area public during the Portraits of a Garden Contest and Photo Exhibit at Tulsa Garden Center January 19 through February 4. This is the third year for the photo contest and exhibit with last year having more than 200 entries. The exhibit gives the amateur photographer the opportunity to present their creative work to the Tulsa area public.

Photographers may enter their photos in the contest from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. January 2nd – 5th and 8th -12th. January 13th 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Each entrant may submit a maximum six photos for judging. The entry fee is $5 for each photo or three entries for $10 in any division. This is an amateur contest and exhibit. Awards will be presented.

Divisions for this exhibit celebrating the art of gardening and nature are adult, children (under 12), and youth (12-18). Adult categories will be:  General garden photo, “Seasons of a Garden,” “Pets in the Garden,“ “Woodward Park Complex,” “Winged Things,” or “Veggies in the Garden.”  There will also be a “Best in Show” category for each age group.

Entry guidelines are:
Prints may be color or black and white, matted or mounted (frames will not be accepted).

All photographs should exhibit a garden theme.

Entries may be reclaimed February 5th to 16th.

Judging by a panel of professionals will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2006 with a wine & cheese reception following at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for winners, press and friends. Exhibit dates are January 19 through February 4. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.  This exhibit is free to the public.
