You know you need to exercise, but you don’t really know what to do on the machines at the mega-gyms – it all seems intimidating. Consider visiting Owasso Fitness Zone, a friendly atmosphere for women and men and where the staff caters to clients’ needs.

Owner Paul Gatton encourages you to see how exercise can relieve stress and help you gain a healthier lifestyle. As we head into the busy holiday season, and the cold and flu season, taking care of our health is more important than ever. Paul is a certified personal trainer and is in his 11th year of business serving Owasso. He has many clients who are seniors with various health concerns that make exercise both important and, at the same time, a challenge. “Dealing with high blood pressure, knee and hip pain, balance control, high cholesterol and endurance issues is our specialty,” explains Paul. “We work with several local chiropractors to improve back strength in patients, and we work with people coming off cardiac rehabilitation and physical therapy. We really customize our workouts for each client.”

Marcia Clark came to Paul over two years ago with osteoporosis and weight control issues. She says that exercise has made a great impact on her life. “I lost 26 pounds and have learned to control my diet, as well as how to exercise correctly,” she says. Marcia loves to travel, and her time in Europe would not have been the same had she not been exercising. Walking is a way of life in the countries Marcia visited, and she was able to enjoy the trips because she was in shape and could keep up.

Marcia works out in the mornings with Paul in personal training sessions, then stays to complete the exercising on her own. “Someone is always here to help you and make sure you are exercising safely,” says Marcia. “Paul is always happy and upbeat, offering encouragement and customizing my workout if I’m having a hard time on a particular day.”

Paul Gatton and Darla Bell invite you to visit Owasso Fitness Zone.

Many Owasso ladies will love the option of working out with a female trainer as well. Beverly Capps is a physical fitness specialist and started out as a client of Paul’s several years ago. After losing over 100 pounds, she is now a bodybuilder and trainer. She understands how to change the body and improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, nutrition and flexibility. Beverly is available by appointment.

The newest face at Owasso Fitness Zone is Darla Bell, certified fitness trainer. Darla has a background in banking but felt a real longing to help others get fit and live a happier, healthier life. She explains that while watching the show “The Biggest Loser,” she was touched by the story of a woman with liver disease. Darla watched as the show’s trainer convinced the woman of her worth and that her life was worth fighting for. “As corny as that sounds, I thought to myself how true it is. People need to know that their lives are worth the effort and that they will live better physically and mentally if they exercise,” says Darla.

With her husband Tim and son Ethan, Darla is living what she teaches about balancing exercising and good nutritional habits. “You can have your cake and eat it too,” she grins. “It just has to be a small piece, and you need to work out.”

Owasso Fitness Zone knows how to help you relax as well.
