Many may remember the Lennon Sisters as a famous singing group in the 1960s and ’70s, but doll collectors know a little more: Kathy and Janet Lennon went on to design their award-winning "Best Pals" line of soft rag dolls, paper dolls, children's music and play sets. That’s why Gloria Pierce, owner of My Doll Castle in Claremore, is excited to host The Lennon Sisters Doll Event on Saturday, June 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“I’m so thrilled to have the Lennon Sisters coming to My Doll Castle,” says Gloria. “It is an honor to have two women so renowned and talented visit.” Gloria adds that the sisters will be signing autographs. In the two years since Gloria opened My Doll Castle, she has hosted several famous doll personalities for signings, but the Lennon Sisters are the most famous, as they are known beyond the doll world.

The Lennon Sisters Doll Event is a great reason to visit My Doll Castle and peruse what the store has to offer. Placed here and there throughout the store are popular play doll collections such as Karito Kids and Adora, along with retro-style dolls like Penny Bright and classics like Raggedy Ann and Andy. People often think they have to visit a big department store to get good prices on dolls, but dolls from My Doll Castle are reasonably priced, and the selection far outweighs that of department stores.

Gloria remarks that people often think a store like hers is only for those who collect dolls, but nothing could be further from the truth. “We have age appropriate dolls for play, and we have dolls for decoration,” she says. Gloria points out that one appropriately chosen doll can make a great decorative accent in any home. “Rather than buy an art piece, buy a doll that blends with your color or theme,” she says. “You don’t have to be a doll collector to decorate with a doll.” Gloria also sells many holiday-themed dolls, which are perfect for unique seasonal decoration.

Looking for a great gift? Whether you are buying a baby shower gift or graduation present, My Doll Castle offers many choices, including Precious Moments commemorative dolls. Or perhaps you would just like to buy a quality gift for the child on your list. My Doll Castle carries everything from baby dolls to cloth dolls to paper dolls to delight any little girl’s heart.

But even with all of these choices, My Doll Castle is still an excellent place to visit for avid doll collectors or for those who collect dolls to match a particular theme. The store carries a myriad of dolls built around popular themes: Linda Rick Disney Princesses, Twilight, Harry Potter, Julie Andrews, Red Hat, Gone with the Wind, and many more.

Whether or not you are in the market for a doll, Gloria would like to invite you to attend the Lennon Sisters Doll Event. While you are there, don’t be surprised if you find that perfect gift for the little girl in your life – or for the little girl inside your own heart.
