Dee Nash is a writer, speaker, garden coach, and blogger born and raised in Oklahoma.  She has written for Oklahoma Gardener, Organic Gardening, Fine Gardening, flower, the Oklahoman, and Horticultural Horizons.  Dee has written online for HGTV Gardens, Fiskars Corporation and Proven Winners Plants. She is a member of the Garden Writers Association.
Her blog, “Red Dirt Ramblings”, won the Garden Writers Association’s Gold Award for Best Electronic Writing in 2014, was voted “Best Garden Blog” of 2011 by Horticulture magazine, and in 2015 Southern Living magazine named Nash as one of its 30 bloggers to follow.
Her first book, “The 20-30 Something Garden Guide: A No-Fuss, Down and Dirty, Gardening 101 for Anyone Who Wants to Grow Stuff”,was published in 2014 by St. Lynn’s Press.  This fun, non-intimidating guide is the first garden book to address a demographic that cares about the environment and wants to know where their food comes from.
“Anyone can be a gardener,” Dee writes.
Whether you want to farm your balcony or the backyard, it’s about knowing the consequences of actions.
“you just have to know a few key things to do and some things not to do,” Dee said.
Dee teaches which veggies give the most return on investment and effort, how to grow luscious berries and fruit trees on a balcony or deck, what fertilizers are a must and which to avoid, which bugs are a gardener’s best friend and what the best kitchen herbs are to grow.
Dee has a bachelor’s degree in journalism-professional writing from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in botany.  She is a member of the Garden Writers’ Association, Oklahoma Horticultural Society and Great Garden Speakers.  Dee lives outside of Oklahoma City with her family on their 7.5 acre property so she is familiar with Oklahoma’s climate and the many challenges it brings.
“Think of Dee Nash as your favorite horticultural big sister.  Pretty soon, your thumb will be green and your salad bowl will be filled with tasty greens you’ve grown yourself,” said Debra Prinzing, author of Slow Flowers and The 50 Mile Bouquet.
Other reviews of Dee’s book include:
“This is a book I would have liked to have had by my side when I first started trying to grow vegetables.  Maybe instead of going for a large allotment straight away I would have followed Dee’s advice and started small and manageable with some pots on the patio.”—Helen Johnstone, the Patient Gardener.
“If you’re looking for a book that combines practical food growing experience with innovation, humor and country sense, look no further.  Dee Nash is an enthusiastic garden coach who provides the basic know-how and the encouragement for young (and not-so-young) wannabe gardeners to start growing their own food.” –Nike Jabbour, author of The Year Round Vegetable Gardener and Groundbreaking Food Gardens.
