Children love a store that is all their own, and that is exactly what kids and their parents will find at Emily’s Playhouse in Claremore. From hip and trendy to traditional and preppy clothing and a large assortment of toys, gifts and mementos, Emily’s Playhouse is just fun all around.
There really is an Emily, too. She is the granddaughter of owner Cindy Mooney-Rickard, who always wanted to operate a boutique and enjoys every aspect of her business.
“I so enjoy meeting people and being able to meet their needs on a personal level,” says Cindy.
The store is well-prepared for the holidays with gift ideas for newborns up to pre-adolescents. Classic books, toys, plush, collectibles, clothes and accessories come from many different merchants, some of which are local. As a person in business herself, Cindy likes to offer the wares of the regional artists.
Clothes sizes at Emily’s Playhouse are available from newborn to size 16 in girls and newborn to size seven in boys. Girls’ brand names include Lipstik, Will’beth, Roxy, Cache Cache and more. Emily’s Playhouse also carries a huge selection of accessories: hair ties, clips, headbands and decorations, purses, stockings, jewelry and more.
Boys have a selection of Eddie Bauer and QuikSilver clothes and jackets. Formal wear is available for both genders, not only beautiful dresses and sets for girls, but reasonably priced, full-piece suits for boys. Cindy even has a small tux on display for a lucky lad!
Toys at Emily’s Playhouse range from the especially popular toys of the year, such as Thomas the Tank and Bob the Builder to less frequently seen brands such as Papo, which consists of extremely affordable cowboy, Indian, knight and pirate figurines, all with their own items of relevance. More toys include Adora vinyl dolls, Hello Kitty merchandise, Webkins Adopt-A-Pet,, puzzles and play sets and educational toys for almost all ages, such as Alex and Melissa & Doug wooden toys. Emily’s Playhouse also helps to make bath time fun, with lots of playthings such as water flutes and fishing reels, as well as safety bathtub items.
In addition to toys, parents of young babies can purchase Gund Baby’s First Christmas items, growth charts, baby shoes, first books and beautiful Gund Grossman collectibles in the form of frames, clocks, keepsake boxes and more. There is also a line for new big brothers and sisters, such as t-shirts printed with “New Big Brother” or “New Big Sister” and picture books promoting the concerns and joys of becoming a sibling.
Of course, Emily’s Playhouse is completely child-friendly, with set-ups of different toys to keep the young ones busy while the parents shop. In fact, there are so many things to look at, parents are even able to “sneak” a purchase of holiday present items while their child is distracted.
