Summer is on its way! Warm, beautiful days outside place the focus on your skin, and the bright sun reveals every brown spot, wrinkle and pore. No one wants to spend a day at the lake or park trying to hide behind caked-on makeup that is certain to melt. What is the solution? According to Melody Spacek of BA Med Spa, everyone can feel confident in the sun with a top-notch skin care regimen that includes sunscreen, as well as a procedure called IPL, which reverses previous sun damage and provides healthier, younger-looking, more radiant skin.
BA Med Spa can help people of all ages and skin types find the perfect skin care products for their needs, and protect their largest organ – their skin – from the damaging rays of the sun. As time goes on, exposure to the sun’s harmful rays causes several problems, including the slowdown of cell turnover, breakdown of elastin and collagen production, and increase of skin discoloration. Melody adds that most people treat the skin on their face, but it’s important not to overlook your neck, hands, and other areas of the skin.
“The Obagi New Derm System is designed to address the skin at the cellular level, helping it restore itself to a younger and healthier state,” said Melody. One of the major advantages of the system, as opposed to many other skin products, is that it can be used on any skin tone, including dark complexions. “Obagi New Derm resurfaces the skin, addressing acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and other issues. This skin care system improves cellular skin function, minimizes the signs of premature aging, reduces future photodamage, helps skin look and act younger and healthier, and reduces acne flares,” said Melody. “The results are amazing.” Obagi also now offers tinted sunscreens to match a variety of skin tones.
Another excellent line of skin care products available at BA Med Spa are those by Circadia. “Circadia products are designed to work in harmony with the body’s natural systems to defend the skin from environmental insult during the day, and repair during the night,” said Melody. A variety of products are available for photodamaged skin, acne, and sensitive and rosacea skin types.
“Circadia’s Vitamin C Reversal Serum is a biologically active form of Vitamin C that inhibits the breakdown of collagen. This age defying product contains the most stable form of Vitamin C to increase the firm appearance of skin and neutralize free radicals. The serum also contains hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5 to hydrate and smooth,” said Melody.
BA Med Spa also offers SkinMedica Lytera Skin Brightening Complex, which is appropriate for all skin types. This product brightens skin and provides improvement in overall skin condition and evenness of skin tone, as well as reduced appearance of discolorations and dark spots.
Most of us have past sun damage that we would like to correct. An IPL (intense pulse light) treatment, or photofacial, treats a variety of skin conditions including brown spots, broken capillaries, spider veins and facial redness. An IPL photofacial delivers a bright blast of light at very high energy levels through a hand-held device. “An IPL photofacial is an excellent choice if you have a number of different goals: plumper, younger-looking skin, faded brown spots, fewer broken capillaries and less overall redness,” said Melody. “The number of IPL treatments you need will vary depending on the condition you’re treating, the results you want, and how your skin responds. IPL works best in conjunction with a regular skin care routine.”
