Cancer survivor Emily Hollenberg once said, “Cancer is a journey, but you walk the road alone. There are many places to stop along the way and get nourishment — you just have to be willing to take it.” Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Artesian Cancer Center @ Claremore have joined forces with the goal to provide quality treatment and “hometown” nourishment to cancer patients, while helping them feel supported along their journey. “We provide a comfortable, homey environment for our patients, with one-on-one personal care,” says Director Debbie Mills. “Patients do not feel like just another number here; they enjoy being greeted by the same friendly faces each time, and they like that everyone knows their name.”

Linda Willis, oncology nurse for the past 25 years, works for Oklahoma Cancer Specialists at The Artesian Cancer Center, as well as a major hospital. She says the difference she sees at each location is pronounced. “Cancer patients at the hospital are accustomed to seeing new nurses and staff each time they come in for treatment. Here, they appreciate that they get personal care from the same people each time, particularly since many come in several times a week. We really get to know our patients. Another perk is that you park right at the front door and come directly inside, unlike at a hospital setting.”

The Artesian Cancer Center @ Claremore has provided radiation services for approximately 10 years. After joining forces with Oklahoma Cancer Specialists, patients are now able to receive an integrative range of cancer treatment, including most types of radiation, all types of chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy, oral therapies, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, counseling, genetic testing, bone marrow biopsies, and diagnostic consultation – all under one roof, right in Claremore. They are equipped to treat over 300 types of cancer, including colon, brain, skin, breast, prostate and lung cancers.

“You do not need to travel to Tulsa to receive superior cancer care,” says Dr. Fuad Hassany. “We have a comprehensive care team that can help patients ease their burdens and deliver effective treatment. Our goal is to equip patients with a complete understanding of their cancer and the options available as they make treatment decisions. Everything we do is patient focused.”

The world-class team of physicians includes board certified medical oncologists Dr. Hassany and Dr. Ravi Vasireddy, and radiation oncologists Dr. Edward Abraham and Dr. Van Woo. The entire support staff is committed to providing nurturing, hometown care to every patient who walks through the door. One of the doctors will see you within 24 to 48 hours, and typically the next day after requesting an appointment.

“You do not need a physician referral to be seen here; you have a choice of where you want to be treated for cancer,” says Debbie. “You also don’t have to fight traffic and spend time driving to Tulsa – we provide high-quality, personal care right in the heart of Claremore.”
