Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club Unit Director Dustin Blackmon and Program Director Sa’Quita Burrell are announcing changes in two of the organization’s fundraisers for 2014.

The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Broken Arrow announces its 2014 fundraisers with one new program and the renaming of another. Staff members Dustin Blackmon and Sa’Quita Burrell are putting finishing touches on two of the organization’s key fundraising programs designed to generate funding and enable the Boys & Girls Club of Broken Arrow to continue providing quality programming for our youth and adults. “Our fundraising activities,” said Dustin, “also provide opportunities for corporations and businesses to network within the community to encourage support of club programs and activities.”

A new fundraiser, “The Hands of Change,” seeks assistance from corporate Broken Arrow. It will be held on Friday, April 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Glass Veranda at Forest Ridge, Broken Arrow’s popular destination for banquets and special events. A silent auction featuring at least ten valued offerings will go to the highest bidders. Following a sit-down dinner, attendees will hear guest speakers including Dr. Alex Himaya, pastor, The Church at Battle Creek, and past Youth of the Year award winners. Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame recipient David Skinner and his band will also highlight the evening. “If you’re interested in donating a high-end auction item or becoming a table sponsor, please contact us,” said Sa’Quita.

“Our annual Bouncing Bar-B-Que Dinner has been moved from early March to May, and it will have a new name to tie in with a tailgating theme,” announced Dustin. The 2014 event will still feature inflatables for the kids and a dunk tank. Both the swimming pool and gymnasium will be open for everyone’s enjoyment. The new tailgating event is for everyone in the community to come out and enjoy a fun day at the club and check out the venue.

The club is currently focused on its annual membership campaign, and you are invited to stop by the Boys & Girls Club of Broken Arrow and receive a free membership entitling you to club privileges through June 1, 2014. This is a great opportunity to participate in programs and activities available at your Broken Arrow club. “We are sure that many community residents who take advantage of the free membership will appreciate its value and transfer to an annual membership,” said Dustin. Annual memberships are a great value whether you’re a kid, adult or senior. A membership opens the doors to club amenities, programs and activities throughout the year. New hours for the Boys & Girls Club of Broken Arrow are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.
