Wanda Harris, N.D., of the Herbal Lady in Owasso is dedicated to the pursuit of good health and well-being. Dr. Harris is proud to announce a new, safe and effective treatment for cleansing the body of the toxins that damage and weaken our systems. Dr. Harris’ new body cleansing procedure, which utilizes the Ion Cleanse instrument, can pinpoint problems and pull toxicity out of the body through the pores of the feet.
“Many things contribute to the levels of toxicity we carry in our bodies,” says Dr. Harris. “The food we eat, the environment we live in, pollution, chemicals and different types of chemicals all add up. It is to be noted that any type of stress is also a toxin builder.”
Dr. Harris opened the Herbal Lady clinic with a long-time belief in the power of naturopathic healing methods. She has been able to assist people for years in creating health programs that are designed specifically for individual needs. Through Nature’s Sunshine vitamins, herbs, minerals and tailored health-for-life plans, Dr. Harris attempts to keep bodies running at their top performances. Different techniques for determining physical ailments are also employed, such as iridology, the study of the iris of the eye.
“The Ion Cleanse foot detox machine is not a substitute for regular body clearing, but it is very effective when used in addition to a well-balanced health routine,” Dr. Harris says. While toxin accumulation can cause chronic health problems, the Ion Cleanse machine can show Dr. Harris and her patients what types of toxins are causing problems. The process not only identifies the trouble, but it also works to treat it.
The treatment itself is relaxing. The patient places one or both feet in the basin of water that is attached to the Ion Cleanse machine. The instrument then begins to identify the prevalent toxins by changing the color of the water at the end of the treatment. Brown can represent liver problems or a smoking habit, while a deep green color signifies an unhealthy balance in the gall bladder, immune system or digestive system.
“We tend to build up a lot of negative substances in our bodies during the winter months,” says Dr. Harris. “Spring is a good time to do some cleaning from the inside out.”
Dr. Harris also employs another relatively new technique. The bamboo charcoal waist belt has a great absorption effect that purifies the water or air. Studies show that it can emit negative ions and absorb electromagnetic waves that warm the body and ease aching muscles. The belt can help to increase blood flow, alleviate inflammation and increase the flexibility of collagen tissue.
“These are both good, productive treatments, but they’re not quick fixes,” says Dr. Harris. “They are perfect complements to an overall healthy lifestyle, especially since people are increasingly turning towards holistic methods. More people are getting nutrients through minerals, herbs and vitamins, while maintaining a balanced diet and exercise plan.”
