Give Better Golf

Do you have a golf fanatic on your holiday list?

By: Duane Blankenship | Category: Health & Fitness | Issue: December 2008

Pat McTigue, owner of GolfTec in Tulsa, demonstrates the features and benefits of g-SWING, the software program that combines video and motion measurement with PGA Pro analysis to help improve virtually anyone’s golf game.

Do you have a golf fanatic on your holiday list? Give them the gift of better golf with lessons from GolfTec. It’s also a great present to give yourself if you’re interested in taking your game to the next level – or beyond.

Pat McTigue opened the Tulsa GolfTec franchise in August. There are 135 GolfTec locations nationwide, and McTigue has plans to open an additional two stores in Oklahoma City. McTigue is a member of PGA of America and is a certified GolfTec instructor; he received his training in Denver to qualify for teaching the comprehensive program. McTigue’s Tulsa facility is equipped with high-tech analysis and training equipment. “Golf is the hardest game to learn to play properly,” he says. “It is addictive, and those of us who play have a burning desire to play it well.”

GolfTec founders developed a training technique that is fact-based rather than opinion-based. Established in 1995, GolfTec is recognized as a premiere source for golf improvement. Their system has helped thousands of golfers improve their game through a comprehensive approach to golf instruction. GolfTec is dedicated to helping you build a powerful feeling of trust and elevate your personal game. “We do it by providing the best golf lesson experience available today,” says McTigue.GolfTec believes that only through fundamentally sound technique, properly fit equipment, and good physical and mental conditioning can you play your best golf. The GolfTec teaching technique utilizes sophisticated computer equipment, software and two video cameras to record each student’s swing for comparison to the swings of 150 touring professionals. The instructor then uses the recorded data to analyze the 1.2-second swing on digital video. Swing parameters are analyzed at address, top of swing, impact and finish. Assessments include shoulder turn, tilt and bend, and hip turn, tilt and bend, all measured in degrees.

Golf is a recreational activity, and the greatest drive in going to the links isn’t the beauty of the course or even scoring a good game. The single most important factor that calls us back again and again is striking the ball; it’s like hitting a home run. Research shows that this single factor is five times more important to a player than any other factor contributing to the enjoyment of playing golf. McTigue says that the GolfTec system can improve any golfer’s game, no matter if they’re a beginner, a seasoned player or a pro. The video system reduces the learning curve in perfecting the fundamentals of the game.

Two video cameras provide synchronized split screen stop-action shots to assess six functions of a student’s golf swing.

GolfTec has announced a couple of exciting gift-giving options. Option A is a 1-2-3 Improvement Package, and Option B is a Swing Evaluation Session. You can view the details of both packages online at  www.GiveBetterGolf.com. They make great Christmas gifts, and you can go online to purchase gift cards. Or, you can visit the GolfTec store for an introductory tour or to pick up gift cards. They also offer standard practice packages of 3, 6, and 12 months, and lesson packages of 10 to 52 sessions.

“We can help any golfer improve their game,” says McTigue. The GolfTec goal is to get golfers better faster. Check them out and expect to improve.
