Holiday parties, family gatherings and special holiday traditions will fill our calendars over the next few weeks. Everyone wants to look their best. The Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio, located in Owasso’s Waterford Center, has built its business around helping customers look beautiful.

Merle Nethercutt Norman started her company in 1931, and its success speaks for itself over 75 years later. Judy Miller and her daughter, Angela Meadows, know that women love to be pampered. As fans of the Merle Norman line, the two women opened their own Merle Norman Studio in 2002. When the Waterford Center opened behind Walgreens three years ago, the ladies were thrilled to design the new studio to their taste. With a beautiful, curving, glass, brick wall, an abundance of natural light and shelf after shelf of irresistible products, the Merle Norman Studio is a fun place to visit.

According to Sherri Lefler, studio manager, personal service sets the Merle Norman line apart from other cosmetics. “Our customers can test our products and see how they work before they make a decision to purchase,” she says. “We have three testing tables in the store, so people can take home products they know they will enjoy.” The unique philosophy of “try before you buy” is an assurance of satisfaction.

Personalized beauty tips, free Merle Norman makeovers and a calm, pressure-free atmosphere make the shopping experience a pleasure. For teens just beginning to use cosmetics, either Lefler or Candace Spencer, beauty consultant, can customize skin care systems to reduce blemishes and compliment skin tones. “So many times girls will use an older sister’s or maybe a friend’s makeup when they begin using cosmetics,” Lefler says. “The result is often unflattering due to a difference in skin tones or individual features. We want girls to learn how to find their own look right from the start and take proper care of their skin.”

Many local Merle Norman customers have used the cosmetic line for decades. “You can really tell a difference in those who have treated their skin well throughout their lives and those who have not,” Lefler mentions. “We have ladies come in who are in their 70’s and have the most beautiful complexions. They have been loyal users of Merle Norman Cosmetics since they were young, and they have guided their daughters and granddaughters to our products, as well. It’s really neat.”

While it is comforting to know you can pick up your signature lipstick or the perfect foundation, it is just as important to experiment with new colors and products to keep your look up-to-date. Merle Norman’s Holiday 2007 Color Collection can give anyone “show-stopping” style and a head-turning face. The LUXIVA line of lasting eyecolors, creamy eyeliners, sparkling powders and selection of lipcolors will make you feel like a star. Metallic colors are the rage for this holiday season. Not only can you find them at Merle Norman, you will leave the store knowing just how to use them for the holidays and far beyond.

With the holiday season in full swing, Merle Norman Cosmetics and skin care products make great gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list. Luxurious presents do not need to be expensive; try an assortment of shades for the girl who likes to change her look, fill a stocking with a face-saving skin care set for your favorite guy or give a gift certificate so your loved one can have a shopping spree all their own. Add a haircut and color or spa services from the adjoining Elite Salon and Day Spa.

Stop by today to update your look and find great gifts for the people on your list. Merle Norman Studio hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The studio is closed Sunday and Monday.
