Dr. Mallory Spoor-Baker gives her patients’ skin a beautiful, natural glow with Pearl resurfacing treatment at Advanced Cosmetic Medicine.
Having a natural glow and beautiful skin is key to maintaining a youthful, attractive appearance, and it gives you more confidence as well. Dr. Mallory Spoor-Baker of Advanced Cosmetic Medicine helps patients achieve this confidence with a variety of treatments, including the Pearl™ procedure. “The Pearl treatment renews your skin’s surface and minimizes wrinkles, uneven texture and discoloration with only one or two treatments and minimal downtime,” says Dr. Spoor-Baker.
The Pearl procedure combines the impact of resurfacing lasers with the gentleness and safety of non-invasive procedures to treat aging and sun-damaged skin. Pearl reduces wrinkles, uneven texture and solar damage with fewer treatments and less overall recovery than other technologies to provide a healthy, pearl-like glow.
During the procedure, the top layer of skin is treated with pulses of light in a pre-selected pattern. The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin to provide longer-term benefits. A natural protective dressing forms on the skin to minimize downtime during the restorative process. On day three or four, this natural dressing will peel or slough off, revealing new, healthy, vibrant skin underneath. In a short time, patients will notice overall skin clarity, smoothness and softness.
Downtime is the time spent recovering from a procedure. With “social” downtime, patients can continue normal daily activities. However, they may not wish to attend important social events because the face appears pink or red – resembling a mild sunburn – for those few days.
The Pearl treatment is not a painful process; it feels like a series of brief pinches. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 representing pain, most patients report the treatment feeling like a 2 or 3.
Results are noticeable by the third or fourth day when the superficial tissue has peeled off, revealing fresh, bright, healthy skin.
Some patients may require two treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients need only one treatment. “You may also choose to have a Pearl treatment combined with other procedures, such as dermal fillers or Botox, to achieve optimal results,” says Dr. Spoor-Baker.
Pearl offers the most effective treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discoloration without wound care and the lengthy downtime required with certain laser procedures. Another benefit is that Pearl offers noticeable results in just one treatment, versus the usual four to six laser treatments.
Patients with light to medium skin tones and mild to moderate sun damage are the ideal candidates for Pearl.
