Oklahoma Centennial Botanical Garden has scheduled a number of educational programs at free Saturday open houses through October, when the garden closes for the year. The events include guided trail walks, a photography class and plein air painting by award-winning artists.
Sixty acres of gardens and other features will be created on a 170-acre, donated site just seven miles northwest of downtown Tulsa. Now visitors can walk a nature trail through the Cross Timbers Ancient Forest and Prairie and 100-tree Persimmon Grove, and stroll around Centennial Lake and see the 300 planted trees and shrubs. Staff and volunteers at the Visitor Center will give an overview and talk about plans for updating the master plan.
The garden is located at North 52nd East Avenue and West 43rd Street North and is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Information, a map and directions are available at www.ocbg.org.
