Feels Like Fall!

By: Macy Goodnight | Category: Recreation/Leisure | Issue: October 2019

There’s nothing like a fall festival to saturate people with a hometown vibe and a warm embrace of community spirit!

Owasso’s Annual Harvest Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Rayola Park, located at 8300 N. Owasso Expressway. A free family event, the festival will host loads of fun activities. Food trucks, vendors, games, animals, live music, a kid zone with kiddie train, balloon artist, face painting, and so much more will be enjoyed by all!  Other highlights include a Pet Festival and The Owasso Sings Competition.

The first Harvest Festival was held in 2004, at Centennial Park. A small committee came together with a common goal; to provide a special Fall event for the citizens of Owasso to come together and enjoy as a community. It began simply, with only a tent, a tractor and trailer, hotdogs and chips. Pumpkin carving and costume contest, as well as hayrides, were staples in the early days of the event. As the festival grew, and more visitors attended, the event was relocated to a more spacious location in 2012. It has been at Rayola Park for the past seven years.

City of Owasso Recreation and Culture administrative manager, Elishya Cook, is thrilled to assist in the planning of the Harvest Festival that now attracts approximately 10,000 people each year. “Each year our goal remains the same,” she said. “To provide a FREE, fun-filled, and entertaining day for friends and families to enjoy together.” The dedicated Harvest Festival Committee works hard each year to improve the Harvest Festival Experience. “Come and see what it’s all about!”
