Karen Cable, franchise owner of the Just Between Friends Broken Arrow/Bixby event, says that due to the economy, JBF is seeing huge growth in its number of shoppers and consignors.

The economy is the big topic of conversation right now for people of all walks of life – everyone is trying to figure out how to pinch a few extra pennies and earn some extra cash. A perfect solution for many families is buying and consigning at Just Between Friends, the nation’s leading children’s and maternity consignment event.

With the state of the economy, JBF sales are growing exponentially. Because so many consumers are struggling right now, many are turning to consignment shopping and selling for the first time. “So many people have told us this helps pay a bill for them,” says Karen Cable, franchise owner of the Broken Arrow/Bixby sale. “We’ve already seen huge increases in the number of consignors and shoppers at the Tulsa sales this season.” Sales at the Broken Arrow/Bixby event are projected to be up about 20 percent from last year.

The Just Between Friends sale for area residents will take place Friday through Sunday, May 8-10, at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center (UMAC), located at 6836 S. Mingo Rd.

Participating in JBF is a win-win financially for both consignors and shoppers. Consignors typically make 65 percent of sales from their merchandise, while those who consign and volunteer make 70 percent. Consignors also have the advantage of creating their own prices for items no longer being used around the house. With better returns than most consignment shops can offer and far less hassle than a garage sale, consignors are able to take all their items in one day and choose to pick up or donate items that don’t sell.

Just Between Friends Broken Arrow/Bixby offers just about everything you need for children, including lots of baby equipment. The sale will take place May 8-10 at the UMAC.

According to Karen, the prices and selection for shoppers is unrivaled, and they can find an entire season’s worth of items in one stop. “We have families that come to our sales twice each year and walk out with everything they need for their children in just a few hours. You can’t do that anywhere else for even close to our prices. It’s just good for everyone involved.”

Items available include gently-used children’s, juniors and maternity clothing, baby equipment, household furniture, software, videos, toys and much more. “If it has to do with children, we probably have it. And it’s only going to cost you about a third of what you pay at the mall,” explains Karen. Sunday, May 10 will be the sale’s half-price day.

In addition to benefiting sellers and buyers, the JBF sale will also profit area communities through donations to the Salvation Army and the Margaret Hudson Program of Broken Arrow. “We charge a $3 admission the first day, and that goes to benefit our charities. Shoppers are also encouraged to donate canned food, personal hygiene products, diapers, formula or anything else that would benefit these organizations.”

It’s not too late to become a consignor, and a special presale is available for those consigning or volunteering to help during the sale. New moms are able to enjoy this presale as well. Sale hours are Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
