A Place of Grace Christian Bookstore provides not only resource materials that provide for the mind’s and spirit’s needs, but also strives to provide an atmosphere of refreshment and renewal.

The word “faith” is most commonly translated into trust, belief or hope, and it is the cornerstone of Christianity. A Place of Grace Christian Bookstore in Claremore provides not only resource materials that provide for the mind’s and spirit’s needs, but also strives to provide an atmosphere of refreshment and renewal.

A Place of Grace was established in 2003. “It has always been a dream of mine to open this store,” says owner Trecia Bickford. “I feel like I am fulfilling a mission.”

A Place of Grace carries many lines of books: Bibles (several translations), devotionals, study guides, children’s Bibles and story books, teen guidance, and Christian fiction from popular authors such as Wanda Brunstetter, Janette Oke, Karen Kingsbury and Francine Rivers. Spiritual growth authors include Charles Swindoll, Joyce Meyers, Beth Moore and Rod Parsley. Gift books are in abundance, as are the widely lauded “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books.

In addition to books, A Place of Grace carries lots of other merchandise: home décor, music, DVDs, t-shirts, jewelry, bookmarks, children’s toys and more. Home décor items include paintings, tapestries, sculptures and other artwork, dishes, and candles. T-shirts and jewelry are from the Kerusso line, which specializes in Christian products. 

The atmosphere is key to the success of the store. “It is very rewarding to know that someone who has visited us has been uplifted and leaves feeling renewed,” says Bickford. Bickford and her team member Shari Biggs know many of their customers by name and are always looking forward to meeting new people.

A Place of Grace offers some special services, such as personalized imprinting, special ordering (with no extra charge), and gift cards. The children’s section has an assortment of games, puzzles, toys and books, and the teen section offers books on how to cope with life’s stresses, along with daily devotionals specially written for young adults. Trecia and Shari are always excited to assist customers in finding their books, Bibles and music.

“It is my hope that when a customer comes in discouraged, we are able to help in providing encouragement; we want people to know that we are here to minister to the hurts and disappointments that life can bring,” says Bickford.
