Gabriela, Rachel and Ashlyn (seated) ham it up for the camera while trying on prom dresses at Treasured Gowns.

Susan Bowren is sure she can make any girl a princess at her prom. Her secret isn’t fairy dust; it’s the selection of gowns that she and husband Rick offer at their store Treasured Gowns, 502 S. Main St. in Sapulpa. Whether a young lady is tall, short, thin or curvy, Treasured Gowns has just the right prom dress to make that celebration of the end of high school extra special.

“We have as many unique styles as we have unique personalities,” says Susan. From classically elegant to stunning red carpet, Treasured Gowns has it all: short or full-length hemlines, mermaid styles, ruffles, pleats, sequins, bold patterns, romantic florals, playful animal prints, whimsical polka dots, modern gowns or retro-style dresses from the 50s and 60s. The gowns and matching shoes, purses and jewelry are available at price points to fit any budget.

And because princesses come in all sizes, so do the gowns. Sizes range from 0 to 32. Many girls remark that Treasured Gowns is the only shop in the area that offers a great plus-size selection.

Customers come from as far away as Kansas, Texas and Arkansas because they know they will get a beautiful gown with all the special touches to make it picture-perfect. A team of ladies in waiting gingerly care for every customer and every gown.

“All of our sales are one on one,” explains Susan. A nip here and tuck there, and Susan’s 40 years of sewing and alteration experience can make a gown flattering for any shape.

Rick takes the same care and pride with tuxedo rentals. Not only is every young man expertly fitted to the smallest detail, the tuxedo is tried on one last time before leaving the store. Susan and Rick make sure the young ladies and gentlemen are set for a fairy tale evening.

When a young woman buys her gown at Treasured Gowns, she has the added assurance that it will be a fashion statement. Only one design is sold per school, and that’s a promise. One lucky princess will get her gown free during the Prom Dress Giveway in April; call Susan for details.

Besides proms, Treasured Gowns also carries formal wear for galas, cruises, pageants and, of course, weddings. The newest addition in the bridal area is gowns specifically designed for casual atmospheres.

Susan believes the economy calls for an alternative to high-cost traditional wedding gowns. Many brides-to-be come in looking for something suitable for a home wedding or destination wedding, such as at a resort or on a cruise ship or beach. They want a nice dress but don’t want to spend their entire wedding budget on it. Treasured Gowns has just the right wedding dresses at prices that allow more money for the honeymoon. A layaway plan is also available.

Their principles of perfection go beyond formal wear. Susan does open alterations for men’s, women’s and children’s wear. “Hems, coat zippers, take in, let out – we can even redesign existing gowns to create a whole new look.”

Treasured Gowns is located on South Main in Sapulpa just outside the downtown shopping district. The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday. Hours vary, so please call ahead at (918) 224-4300.
