Alsultan Mediterranean Grill & Bakery has been open for business at 51st & Mingo for about five months. According to owner Moe Alhilalat, “All our food is chopped and prepared fresh daily. You can’t acquire the perfected taste of our cuisine by serving leftovers.” Alsultan Mediterranean Grill specializes in ethnic foods of Lebanese influence from literally all over the world. They also offer catering for all occasions.

Moe has more than 20 years experience in the food business. He has managed or worked at restaurants in four states. He spent 12 years in Columbus, Ohio, five years in Chicago, three years in Dallas at a restaurant and nightclub, and now owns his grill in Tulsa. “My brother lived in Tulsa, and when I did my research, I found that it was a great city to raise a family. The city was very clean, and the economy was good compared with other areas of the country.”

When you place your food order at Alsultan, the meats are freshly prepared on the grill. Lunch specials include one kind of meat, two appetizers of your choice, and two vegetables. Meat choices include kafta kebab (ground beef, onions and parsley), chicken kebab, lamb shank, fried fish, roast chicken, and gyros. Appetizer selections include hummus (ground chickpeas with sesame, garlic and lemon), tabouli (chopped parsley, ground wheat, lemon and olive oil), shahrzad salad (cucumber, yogurt, garlic, lemon and dry mint), and alsultan salad (tomatoes, cucumber, onion, parsley, lemon and sesame). Is your mouth watering yet?

The grill always offers a featured soup of the day, rice, grilled tomatoes, grilled onions, fried cauliflower, fried eggplant, cabbage roll, sultan potatoes, falafel, fool mudammas, cheese pie, and zater pie.

Feature sandwiches have recently been added to the menu, including hamburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and fish sandwiches. Alsultan also features the shawrem, similar to a gyro, available with either a Lebanese or Greek sauce.

Traditional side orders available are French fries, onion rings, Greek salad or garden salad. You can even build your own pizza or stromboli. There is also a daily Middle East dish feature. And when you visit Alsultan Mediterranean Grill & Bakery, be sure to bring the kids for their own special cheese pizza or chicken nuggets.

The “bakery” part of the Alsultan is actually a mini grocery store with selected food items from around the world. It carries 100 types of international cooking spices and fresh pita bread that looks and tastes yummy. You’ll discover a fine selection of fresh meats including beef and chicken, plus many other items you may have never seen or heard of before. The bakery also has a selection of hookahs and tins containing tobacco flavors such as citrus, watermelon, kiwi, apple and more.

Hours of operation at Alsultan are 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

If you’re looking for variety in your palette, visit Moe at Alsultan Mediterranean Grill & Bakery. You and your taste buds are in for a delightful surprise.
