Say hello to Jim Norton Mitsubishi. The Jim Norton Auto Group has recently bought Don Carlton Mitsubishi. Jim Norton Mitsubishi, now located next to Jim Norton Toyota at 9777 S. Memorial, celebrated its grand opening on July 1 with a newly-remodeled showroom and extended service hours.

With lines including Toyota, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Ford and now Mitsubishi, the Norton family has been involved in the automobile industry for nearly 70 years. “We’re very excited to represent Mitsubishi,” says Dave Croteau, Jim Norton’s general sales manager. “We know Mitsubishi offers phenomenal automobiles, and we’re looking forward to helping them sell their product in Oklahoma.”

Mitsubishi Motors, formed in 1970, has been operating in the American market since 1981. The company prides itself on offering cars that provide “a unique blend of spirited performance, inspired design and durability.”

Mitsubishi’s brand is growing in popularity, and sales have recently been trending up as the company’s automobiles garner a fan base. Mitsubishi offers six cars: the compact Lancer, the midsized Galant, the sports coupe Eclipse and the very stylish Eclipse Spyder and Lancer Evolution. Additionally offered is a truck, the midsized Raider and three sports utility vehicles: the compact crossover Outlander, the midsized Endeavor, and the luxurious Montero. “The Lancer is phenomenal,” says Croteau. “It will compete with all the other imports. The Outlander, the Endeavor, the Eclipse: they’re all great cars.”

The new line of Mitsubishi automobiles is geared toward a younger demographic. “We pride ourselves on being progressive,” says Croteau. “We cater to the parts crowd; people who like to accessorize and customize their cars. People will be able to build their Mitsubishi vehicles online and get all the information they need there.” Jim Norton Mitsubishi also has a veteran management team to help customers find automobiles suitable for their lifestyles and tastes.

Croteau is a graduate of the National Automobile Dealers Association’s Dealer Academy. He has worked for Toyota in Denver and Tulsa, and he has extensive background in the automobile industry. Brent Durrett, service manager, has been with Jim Norton Toyota since 2001 and has been in the service business since 1994. While everyone on Jim Norton’s management team has at least five years of experience, many have much more. Each management team member will help oversee the new Mitsubishi store, ensuring the same excellent service that Jim Norton Toyota customers are familiar with.

Jim Norton makes customer service a high priority. “Mr. Norton has said to the management staff, ‘No matter what, take care of customers first,’” says Croteau. “Customer service goes all the way down the line: sales, techs, everyone. Our people enjoy a more professional culture here than the other places they’ve been. That helps us retain the best people.”
