Sue Mitchell of Broken Arrow is living pain-free since her total hip replacement performed by Dr. Ronald LaButti of Central States Orthopedic Specialists.
If there is one thing Broken Arrow resident Sue Mitchell would emphasize to anyone experiencing any kind of hip or knee pain, whether it is chronic or intermittent, it would be to not ignore it – do something about it and visit a specialist. “I put up with pain and discomfort for so long, for no good reason at all,” says Sue. “I attributed it to aging, and assumed I just had to live with it.”
The turning point for Sue came when she went on an out-of-town shopping excursion with a friend. The two women walked three blocks, and Sue’s friend had to go back and get the car to pick her up – Sue simply couldn’t walk the three blocks back.
“My friend had received a total hip replacement, and she encouraged me to go to her surgeon, Dr. LaButti. The rest is history,” says Sue. Dr. Ronald LaButti, orthopedic surgeon with Central States Orthopedic Specialists in Tulsa, is fellowship trained in lower extremity total joint replacement and reconstruction. He performed Sue’s total hip replacement surgery on August 28, 2009. “Now I am completely pain free,” Sue says.
“Before having my total hip replacement, I was hesitant to even get out of a chair,” Sue explains. “After I told people about having the operation, they would say they had no idea I had hip problems – I was always one to just grin and bear it. Now I make it a point to share my experience, because my life has improved so much. Pain eats away at your life, and I’m so thankful to be without it. And it’s so wonderful not having to worry about hurting when I do everyday things like go grocery shopping or play with my grandkids.” Sue even recommended Dr. LaButti to her brother, who received a successful knee replacement from the surgeon.
Sue has two adult children and five grandchildren, and she is planning a family trip to Mexico with them this summer. “Before, I wouldn’t have gone on the trip. With all of the airport walking and sightseeing, every step would have been painful. I’m so excited to be able to go on a fun vacation with my kids and grandkids.”
The gratitude Sue has for Dr. LaButti is clear. “I was very pleased with my experience with Dr. LaButti and his entire staff. His thoroughness and demeanor really instill confidence in his patients.”
