Designer Showcase has been a Tulsa tradition for 38 years, and the proceeds benefit area schools, teachers and students who apply for grants or program assistance that is not met through their yearly state budget allocations. This year, the Foundation for Tulsa Schools is hosting the event at the historic Max Campbell building, which is being renovated into a boutique hotel. The hotel is located at 2600 E. 11th St. on Route 66, and will certainly be a jewel for business travelers as well as those traveling on Highway 66.

The 38th annual Designer Showcase, benefiting the Foundation for Tulsa Schools, is preparing for its much-anticipated opening on April 29. The showcase will be open to the public from that date until May 22. For the first time ever, the showcase location will be a boutique hotel rather than a private residence. The Campbell Building, formerly home to the Casa Loma Hotel, is being renovated and turned into a boutique property.

Belinda Hedgecock, showcase chairwoman, says, “The hotel renovation is a whole new concept for Designer Showcase; we have over 40 designers working in 26 rooms and conference areas. The Campbell will have a large event space that will be the perfect place to host parties and functions. It promises to be one of the ‘it’ places in town.”

The Max Campbell Building was built in 1927. In the 1940s, it became home to the Casa Loma Hotel and also housed a Safeway, a barber shop and other retail outlets. It is located on historic Route 66 and is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. The location is within walking distance of the University of Tulsa campus and only a few miles from downtown.

Originally, the hotel housed 36 rooms, but the new space has been retooled, allowing for a few suites and 26 traditional rooms. The hotel is closed to the public until the big reveal happens in April with the Designer Showcase Gala. Following the Gala event, the Campbell will be available for individuals and groups to host private parties through the end of May.

The Designer Showcase will be open from April 29 through May 22. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (also 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays) and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Advance tickets are $12, and $15 for tickets at the door. Advance tickets will be available beginning April 1 at the following locations: The Market, William Sonoma, Windsor Market, Jan Markey Gifts in KingsPointe Village, The Home Collection in Utica Square, Lou’s Antiques, G.K. Griffin Designs, and Debbie Zoller Designs.
