Are you looking for a way to eat much healthier and really enjoy your food?  Owners Jason and Trena McGill and family founded “ah-Sigh-e” located at 123rd and Memorial in Bixby in 2018.

Their family hails from Florida where they fell in love with açai berry bowls 14 years ago. Jason says that they did not find any store like ah-Sigh-e in Tulsa or surrounding areas, and it was their dream to open a store and show the public just how scrumptious and healthy the açai bowls and smoothies can be.

The açai bowls and smoothies are refined sugar-free, dairy-free, soy-free, with “no hidden sugars,” and no added salt or preservatives. They pride themselves in utilizing local vendors for many of their fruits and other super-foods like locally grown granola and local honey.

“Your taste buds would enjoy the ice cream-like taste,” they said. The açai bowl is like a thick smoothie topped with your favorite healthy toppings. They are proud of their “guilt-free” motto for a tasty, sweet treat that will leave you feeling satiated. There are gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options as well.

The açai berry is known as a “superfood” that is a low-carbohydrate, high-antioxidant fruit that contains fiber and protein. It is an inch-long, red to purple fruit that comes from the açai palm tree native to both Central and South America. The açai berry is richer in antioxidants than other berries. It becomes the center of the açai bowls and the frozen smoothies. They use the açai pulp, not powder. They ensure that “everything is fresh.”

A popular menu item is the “Red, White & Blue” açai bowl, made with succulent strawberries, bananas and blueberries, layered on top of frozen açai berry smoothie, with crunchy granola at the bottom, flaxseed, and hemp seed and sweet honey drizzled on top. “I’ve never tasted anything like it. It was refreshing; jump started my taste buds, a great semi-sweet snack that turned into a meal for me,” a first-time customer said.

Jason believes that there are no boundaries when it comes to exploring the açai bowls and smoothies.  “If you try it, you will keep coming back. They are that good.” He would like to see people eating a healthy product as opposed to substituting other foods for healthy ones.  He believes that everyone should at least take a taste and discover for themselves the “richness in healthy eating.”

Jason says the most rewarding aspect of running the business is providing a healthy food product to those who are health conscious and those who are not, that want to try something new at an affordable price.  The bowls and smoothies range from $6-$10, some toppings are a little extra.

“The kids even like it,” says Trena. The bowls and smoothies are “not priced for the rich but for all who want to get a good feeling about eating something so scrumptious and yet so healthy,” says Jason. The kids are just as excited about the business as their parents, and it would not be uncommon for them to have a bowl or smoothie every day.

The “fruit-fresh” atmosphere brings the store to life with so many colorful fruits and nuts. The employees also yield a sense of happiness and smiles when serving this delicious snack. Christian music in the background promotes a family-friendly environment, and there are several displays to view while eating. A local artist’s work is showcased monthly.

Hannah is the “berry special” employee of the month and has been working steadily to provide quality customer service with a delightful demeanor and youthful, happy spirit. Jason states that the business has been growing as word-of-mouth recommendations spread from satisfied customers about their popular menu items. The store is open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
