Don’t miss the Kids Fishing Derby on Independence Day.
The City of Claremore is hosting the 4th of July fireworks celebration on Tuesday, July 3 at Claremore Lake Park. Claremore Lake Park will close on July 2 at 10 p.m. and will reopen Tuesday, July 3 at 6 p.m. for the fireworks celebration.
Claremore Firefighters will present the annual Raising of the Flag with the national anthem at 6:45 pm. Live entertainment by Sixx Gunn Hill will start at 7 p.m., and then at 8:15, Ben Nekirk & The Undecided Band will perform. The annual fireworks show will start approximately between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. (at dark). This free event is presented by the City of Claremore.
Parking is free at the Will Rogers Stampede Arena, weather permitting. Bring your lawn chairs, family & neighbors; concessions will be available; alcohol is not allowed in the park; private fireworks are not allowed in the park. There will be designated motorcycle and handicapped parking available inside in the park. Please, no pets.
The celebration continues with the Kids Fishing Derby! The City of Claremore is hosting the 4th of July Kids Fishing Derby on Wednesday, July 4. Claremore Lake Park opens and Derby and registration starts at 7 a.m. Derby age divisions are: 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. The first 400 children will receive a free rod & reel! There will also be drawings for two bikes to be given away in each age division.
Rules of the tournament include (but are not limited to): children must be accompanied by an adult; bank fishing only – no boats. Registration starts promptly at 7 a.m., fishing begins afterward. The tournament will end at 10 a.m., with the judges wrapping up with the winners before 11 a.m.
The Kids Fishing Derby, bikes, rods and reels, and trophies were made possible by these local businesses and individuals: City of Claremore, City of Claremore Parks & Recreation; GRDA; Wal-Mart; Suburban Chevrolet; Nabatak; Jack Kissee Ford; Claremore Chamber, Convention & Visitors Bureau; Coke Cola; House of Trophies; Optimist Club of Claremore; Rogers County Loan; Claremore FOP #112; and Claremore Firefighters Local 1077. Without their involvement and donations, these prizes and the tournament would not take place. So please thank them for all the fun the children will have!
