Topper Causby has been named Chief Lending Officer (CLO) and Executive Vice President at AVB Bank. As part of executive management, Causby is responsible for AVB’s commercial and consumer lending functions and business development, including maintaining the bank’s high standard for credit quality and growing the loan portfolio.

He will play a vital role in ­further building a quality and diverse portfolio, as well as ­managing our commercial ­lending team,” said Ted Cundiff, AVB Bank President and Chief Executive Officer. “Topper is widely recognized in northeast Oklahoma for his impressive background in leading lending teams to achieve key objectives. His appointment as AVB’s Chief Lending Officer is yet another step in our strategic plans toward expanding our customer base.”

    Causby has over 21 years of banking experience, with ­previous management experience related to commercial lending, consumer lending, and branch operations. Most recently, he served as Spirit Bank’s Chief Lending Officer and Retail Manager, where he was ­responsible for 12 locations.

    “I’m excited about the opportunity to closely work with Ted Cundiff, Kelley Rash and the AVB Bank lending team to grow an even stronger ­commercial lending operation,” said Causby. “AVB has a long tradition of providing quality services to make business ­relationships stronger and has proven to be an exceptional ­community bank by all standards.     Causby currently serves on the Creek County Public Facility Trust Authority Board and Central Tech Business Incubator Board. Previously, several local boards and organizations have benefited from Causby’s business acumen, including: Southwest Chapter of Home Builders Association, Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce, Sapulpa Main Street Merchants Association, Sapulpa Kiwanis Club, and Creek County Vocational Agriculture Committee.

    One of the many honors bestowed upon Causby during his career is being recognized for outstanding community service with the Leonard Byron Kiwanian Award. He is a ­graduate of the Sapulpa Citizens Police Academy. An Oklahoma State University graduate as well, Causby holds bachelor of science degrees in business administration and management, with a minor in finance. In 2004, Causby graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC). GSBC is a multi-year community banking school, based in Boulder, Colorado, with a targeted community banking curriculum that is structured around four tracks – leadership and human resources, general management, lending, and financial management.

    Causby and his wife, Melissa, have been married for 22 years and are the proud ­parents of two daughters.
