Want to make your home more beautiful? Step into Robin Craig’s Owasso fabric store and you’ll be ready to spring into action. Located at the corner of 129th East Avenue and 76th Street North, My Designer Fabric is a treasure trove of well-stocked and well-organized fabrics and trims. New spring fabrics are arriving daily and if you don’t see what you need in stock, there are hundreds of samples available for custom orders.

Robin shared that she is still excited from her recent trip to market. The new color trends offer rich shades of teals, gray-blues, purples, magentas, even mauves. “Decorating is cyclical,” Robin explained. “The new patterns and color palettes are a sophisticated blend of colors and patterns paired with soothing creamy tans and whites.”

From the most delicate sheers to durable outdoor fabrics, Robin’s store offers the same designer fabrics you’ve seen in home magazines and on the popular HGTV shows, with friendly hometown service. Fabrics and trims with names including Fabricut, Candice Olson, Charles Faudree, Kravet and Duralee line the display racks, and Robin offers designer fabric that is not available anywhere else in the area.

Whether you are a decorating diva, a professional designer, a do-it-yourselfer or somewhere in between, Robin and her knowledgeable staff can meet your needs. “I am privileged to have Deniese Webb and Cheryl Conatzer working with me. They are very talented and creative ladies.”

My Designer Fabric is now offering a special price of $35 for a one-hour, in-home design consultation, and Robin says this is a great investment. “Time and again we see customers trying to ‘fix’ decorating mistakes they’ve made, whether it is buying stock curtain panels from a home store that are too short, not choosing their wall treatments in coordination with their fabrics, or just having a bad decorating experience. It often costs them a lot of unnecessary time and money just because they aren’t familiar with the process.”

Robin can provide ideas on paint colors, styles that complement the architecture of the home, ways to personalize rooms, and furniture placement that makes the most of each space. My Designer Fabric offers custom furniture and upholstery, using local craftsman. “I take it very seriously when I recommend someone for upholstery, painting, drapery hanging or wall-papering,” says Robin. “I use only trustworthy professionals who take pride in their work.” Robin shares that wallpaper is making a huge comeback, and the patterns and styles are fresh and inspiring.

My Designer Fabric has a large number of suppliers and is constantly adding more. “If you see it in a magazine, at a home show, or on television, we can help you recreate it here,” she says. The store is a constant hub of creative activity, and the ladies are happy to assist customers in determining how much fabric they will need, giving approximate costs and advice on how to put things together. Custom window treatments add a finished touch to any room, and My Designer Fabric has a new source for affordable custom shutters and blinds. “I’m always happy to find very competitive pricing with high quality materials.”

If you are in need of inspiration, Robin suggests you visit the Designer Showcase 2010, which will be open this year April 30 through May 23. Robin has been asked to decorate the Showcase Café at the Bohart Mansion at 2840 S. Columbia Pl., and says it is a fabulous place to get decorating ideas. “The Showcase will feature the creations of over 30 top designers from our area, and it benefits the Foundation for Tulsa Schools. It’s a win-win event for everyone.” Tickets are available at My Designer Fabric and are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

My Designer Fabric is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday by appointment. You can also shop at home by visiting the store’s website, www.mydesignerfabric.com, which features a huge variety of fabrics, trim, lighting and custom furniture.
