Canoe Brook Executive Director Jim Colbert says, “Residents don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

Canoe Brook is Tulsa’s newest Assisted Living and Alzheimers Care Community.  The center opened doors in December of 2009 where it today hosts two floors of memory care and two floors of assisted living to meet the needs of a growing population of senior adults who may require assistance, but do not need a skilled nursing facility.  Canoe Brook is licensed by the State of Oklahoma.

Mr. Jim Colbert is Canoe Brook’s Executive Director.  He earned his Masters Certificate in Aging and reminds his qualified Staff, “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”  Jim was responsible for opening two senior care communities last year when he acquired the nickname, “Mr. Fix It.”  He has an ability to pull staffs together recognizing the strengths of each individual.  “A team working together equals success,” says Jim.  “The entire Canoe Brook staff and I are all working together for our residents and their families.”  Canoe Brook honors the contributions of their seniors by promoting independence and self reliance in a supportive and compassionate environment.

Jim says Canoe Brook is blessed with great department heads and staff members, each of whom has a caring spirit.  It’s obvious those working at Canoe Brook have a great compassion for what they do.  “I’ve never seen a place that covers their senior guests so totally with love,” Jim said.  “We never try to replace home, but we want Canoe Brook to be as homelike as we can make it.”  Jim and his staff like to take time to talk with and listen to Canoe Brook residents and their immediate family members.  “After all,” says Jim, “we are all family.”

The success in supporting the residents of Canoe Brook depends upon the valuable input received from family members and physicians.  The staff continually evaluates each resident’s preferences as individual plans are developed.  Canoe Brook cherishes and honors each resident and takes pride in providing personal care assistance as they support and encourage the independence of their residents.  Safe living accommodations and access to the staff is provided 24-7 under the direction of a licensed nurse.  Family members may be assured that their loved one is in good hands at Canoe Brook.  It is truly a perfect alternative for seniors who can no longer live on their own at home, yet don’t need around the clock medical supervision.

Assisted living services include customized levels of care, private suites with kitchenettes, and three glorious meals each day prepared by Chef Greg Blecha and served in the elegant dining room.  Homemade desserts frequently prepared by Dietary Manager Glenda Aery are always an anticipated treat.  Canoe Brook provides medication management, state-of-the-art emergency/internal response system, scheduled transportation, a full activity program with social and recreational activities, and weekly housekeeping and laundry services.  Residents enjoy visiting the beauty and barber shop and just relaxing in the secure enclosed courtyard.

Canoe Brook Assisted Living & Alzheimers Care Community is located on East Admiral Place, east of 293rd E Avenue (County Line) in Catoosa.  The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the inside is clean and glamorously decorated.  Give them a call today for a tour and complimentary lunch, or just drop in.  You’ll be welcomed at the front door and will be impressed with Tulsa’s newest assisted living and Alzheimers community…Canoe Brook, offering a blend of charm, culture, traditions and a sense of family.
