Bixby Chamber’s Executive Director graduates from four-year Leadership Training Program.

Deb Marshall, Executive Director of the Bixby Chamber of Commerce, graduates from a four-year leadership training program of the United States Chamber of Commerce.

Through community involvement, economic growth, networking businesses and advertisement through Chamber publications, the Bixby Chamber of Commerce exists to provide inventive ways for the community and local businesses to grow.

The Bixby Chamber of Commerce is a service-oriented business organization, which focuses its efforts to build a better community through programs and services directed at local business members. “When businesses join the Chamber they become part of a group, a voice, and are plugged in to Bixby”, says Executive Director Deb Marshall.

The Bixby Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to provide leadership to improve the business environment for its members and the community in an effort to stimulate economic growth and enhance the overall quality of life in Bixby. The Chamber uses targeted, effective and affordable advertising through Chamber publications to give local business members publicity within the community. Through Chamber events, which create awareness and build relationships, the Chamber also allows for networking and business contacts among members to help local businesses grow. The Bixby Chamber is an active member of several organizations including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Oklahoma State Chamber, Oklahoma Prosperity Project, Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives, and American Chamber of Commerce Executives.

Executive Director of the Bixby Chamber of Commerce, Deb Marshall has received several nominations for Chamber Executive of the Year, and was recently recognized as a Red Cross Everyday Hero. Marshall was a 2004 Volunteer of the Year for Bixby Area Neighbors, and received an Outstanding Service Award from the Bixby Optimist Club in 2005. Deb Marshall serves on the Bixby Optimist Club Board, Friends of Irving Foundation Board and the Bixby Community Outreach Center Board of Directors. Deb Marshall has recently graduated from Institute for Organization Management, a four-year nonprofit leadership-training program held at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Graduates of Institute for Organization Management receive the IOM recognition, which signifies the completion of more than 90 hours of nonprofit study and dedication to the nonprofit profession. Through a combination of required courses and electives, students not only enhance their own organizational management skills, but also add new fuel to their organizations, resulting in a more effective and efficient business. Deb Marshall is one of eleven Oklahoma chamber executives who have graduated from this program in the past five years, furthering the Bixby Chamber of Commerce’s goal of progressive and creative resources for strengthening and educating local business members.
