Rumours Salon, located at 517 W. 5th St. in Claremore, is a full service salon with a relaxing, intimate atmosphere. Denise Nelson, master instructor at Claremore Beauty College, recently purchased the salon and completely updated and remodeled it. The team of six will assist you with all your beauty needs – hair, nails, waxing and more – and you’ll leave the place smiling because you look great, feel great, and just had a lot of fun.

Denise’s daughter Mindy Gerving, also a master instructor at Claremore Beauty College and owner of Beautiful Wigs and Accessories, has been a licensed stylist for 13 years. She is at Rumours Salon weekdays during the evening and on Saturdays. “I really enjoy doing hair, especially color and up-dos,” says Mindy.

Monica Clark has been a licensed cosmetologist for 22 years. “I love my job,” she says. “The best thing about doing hair is the variety: no two people are the same, and no two heads of hair are the same.”

Stylist Sandy Barbee has accumulated eight years of experience in the field. “There is nothing I don’t like about my work,” says Sandy. “I enjoy everything, but I really like doing cuts and color a lot. I love doing fun, bold colors like pinks and blues. I also do ear-piercing.”

“I’m the newbie,” says Rumours stylist Ashley Baker. “I’ve been a cosmetologist for a year. I love it. I enjoy doing cuts, coloring – all the hair stuff – plus acrylic nails, manicures and pedicures.”

Another Rumours Salon employee fresh in the field is Nicole Holt-Eaton, who has also been doing hair for a year. “I love it all,” she says. “Everything about working at Rumours Salon is fun.”

Rhonda Howell has been a cosmetologist for eight years. “I like to do it all – waxing, hair, everything. But what I enjoy most is meeting people and hearing their stories.”  

The women at Rumours Salon clearly love their work and interacting with their customers. The salon has a very pleasant ambiance, accented by a fireplace and comfortable waiting area. You’re guaranteed to see lots of smiles, and chatting and laughter fill the air.
