The Vascular and Vein Laser Center offers many services to help people achieve their desired looks. And although it is frequently thought of for its vein-removal services, the office now has available an advanced technique for laser hair removal. The alexandrite laser will be featured November 26 at the Vascular and Vein Laser Center’s Clinic Day.

The need for fast, noninvasive hair removal has led to the development of many lasers. According to the Vascular and Vein Laser Center’s Dr. Kyle Hrdlicka, laser treatment can leave patients hair-free significantly longer than waxing, shaving, plucking or depilatory creams. And, while less time-consuming and less painful, lasers can remove more hair than electrolysis.

One such laser, the alexandrite laser, uses red and infrared light to destroy hair follicles. According to the International Skinlaser Directory, a chilled hand piece allows the heated energy from the laser to be absorbed by hair follicles while producing minimal discomfort and side effects to the surrounding pigment. Hair falls out approximately a week after treatment, and later growth appears finer and sparser. While several sessions may be required to obtain desired results, aftercare is minimal. Some goosebump-like swelling may occur around the hair follicles following treatment, but it typically disappears within a day.

Dr. Hrdlicka, surgeon at the Vascular and Vein Laser Center, attended Oklahoma State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. Today, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases. As a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the American College of Phlebology, he is actively involved in the most current endovascular research. Dr. Hrdlicka uses the newest laser and surgical procedures available to produce results desired by clients.

In addition to its laser hair removal, the Vascular and Vein Laser Center offers a variety of the latest procedures for the treatment of unsightly, painful varicose veins. Such treatments are available as microphlebectomy, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, VNUS Closure, as well as endoluminal ablation of the saphenous vein, better known as ELAS. Dr. Hrdlicka welcomes any interested patient to schedule a consultation to decide which procedure, whether for veins or laser hair removal, is best for the individual.
