John Chatzigiannidis (“Don’t even try,” he says, “just call me John!”) is a certified pedorthist. He is licensed as required by the Oklahoma Licensed Pedorthists Act, to practice pedorthics. John designs, manufactures, modifies, and fits shoes and foot orthoses to alleviate problems caused by disease, congenital condition, overuse, or injury. The Pedorthic Footwear Association (PFA) is a well-established allied health association that makes an invaluable contribution to public health.

John was born and raised in South Africa. He furthered his studies in Johannesburg, South Africa, England and in the United States. John immigrated to the USA in 1999. He has lived and worked in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the past twelve years. John lives in Jenks with his wife and their two children.

John specializes in custom-made orthotics and he also provides over-the-counter orthotic devices. His passion is the biomechanics of the human body and why it does what it does. John’s many years of experience in treating the functions of the human feet has allowed him to treat patients from one year to 107 years old.

His patient’s include professional and competitive sports players. John treats adults and children, of all ages. John has seen great results with teenagers, who are active sports players. He has also fabricated and provided orthotics to Tulsa’s dance professionals.

John works with several podiatrists and physicians in Tulsa, who refer their patients for custom-made, orthotic devices fabricated by Feet Unlimited.

When you come in for your first office visit, you will typically be interviewed and examined. You will likely be asked to bring with you a pair of recreational shoes, a pair that you frequently wear, and perhaps a pair that you wear only on special occasions. He may ask you questions about home and work duties and other activities such as walking, running or dancing.

John specializes in treating diabetics who require diabetic footwear. According to the American Diabetes Association, 17 million Americans are at risk for foot problems related to their diabetes. Proper footwear can significantly reduce the risk of amputation.

Medicare may cover the costs of preventative extra depth footwear if you are diabetic and have one or more of the following conditions: poor circulation, foot deformity, peripheral neuropathy with a history of callus formation, previous amputation of the foot or part of the foot, or a history of foot ulceration. Your treatment will include filling the prescription you will be asked to bring from your referring physician. John may also want to discuss your history or have questions to ask your doctor. You may obtain a Certificate of Medical Necessity Form from John’s office or call and they will be happy to fax one to your physician. It is critical that you have this form with you on your first visit to determine if treatment will be covered by Medicare. Medicare (Part B) should cover 80 percent of the cost: one pair of extra depth shoes with three pairs of heat-moldable inserts or three pairs of custom fabricated inserts per calendar year.

Feet Unlimited, Inc. offers orthotics, including custom-made and over-the-counter orthotics, over-the-counter diabetic shoes, biomechanical evaluations, graphite orthotics, and Dr. Comfort diabetic shoes.
