For the second year in a row, United Ford North in Tulsa has received the prestigious President’s Award from Ford Motor Company. The employees of United Ford North were honored April 16 with a steak luncheon for their outstanding efforts in 2007.

The President’s Award, initiated in 1989, is bestowed upon Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealerships that lead the nation in exceptional service and high customer ratings for vehicle ownership experience. Only four Ford dealerships in Oklahoma were selected to receive the 2007 award. Approximately 400 of the nearly 5,000 dealerships nationwide earned the award.

During the presentation for the 2006 President’s Award, Brad Gorges, general manager at United Ford North, predicted that the dealership would receive the award again. Gorges and his employees beamed with joy at this year’s ceremony when it was announced that they had indeed repeated their accomplishment.

Bill Knight, area vice president of Penske Automotive Group, declared his pride for the United Ford North employees, saying they too should be extremely proud of their hard work.

One of the most notable aspects of the President’s Award is that it requires an outstanding performance by the entire team. “In order to make the cut, it takes the conscious efforts of every employee, every day,” said Rusty Magiera, fixed operations director.

“Many dealers go their whole careers and never receive this award,” added Brad Brownell of Ford’s Dallas region office, who traveled to Tulsa specifically to present the award to the employees of United Ford North. “It’s truly an incredible honor.”

To win the President’s Award, recipients must acquire excellent marks from their customers, who rate the dealership and employees after their purchase and after warranty services are performed on their vehicles. Dealerships selected must also attain annual sales expectations for both cars and trucks.

For winning the President’s Award two years in a row, United Ford North will receive one additional Ford Shelby GT500 on their original allocation of the vehicle. The Shelby Ford is a 5.4L supercharged, intercooled DOHC V8 rated at 500 hp. It is a top-of-the-line Mustang, limited in production to about 8,000 annual units.

Consumer Reports’ Annual Auto Issue promotes eight Ford products on its “Recommended Buy” list for 2008. “Ford has shown the greatest improvement in vehicle quality in the automotive industry and is now equal to the imports,” said Brownell. In addition, Ford has more 5-star safety ratings than any other automotive brand.

Congratulations to the employees of United Ford North for receiving the Ford Motor Company President’s Award for the second straight year!
