Are you feeling a little bah-hum buggish about the upcoming holidays? Not really in the mood for Christmas shopping? Tired of the same old decorations and choices in gifts? Steve Baggett prescribes a dose of retail therapy at Countryside Flowers and Gifts, located just north of Reasor’s at Highway 169 and 86th Street North.

Countryside has a huge array of themed Christmas vignettes that showcase tree ornaments, centerpieces, gift items and more, all grouped together so you can complete your décor in one stop. The Garden Frost collection features sage green and silver with snow birds in glittering nests. Bear Creek Lodge is a more masculine take on the holiday with black bears, hunter’s plaid accents, gilded acorns, owls and a rustic elegance all its own.

The Christmas Romance theme is dreamy in shades of pinks, browns and burgundy. The Uptown Holiday area glimmers with black, silver and red ornaments and accessories featuring pianos, Westies and Scottie dogs, and much more. Gingerbread cowboys and boots and western star lights make the Cowboy tree a lot of fun, and the Harlequin Holiday theme has the non-traditional color scheme of orange, purple, gold burgundy and other jewel tones.

Don’t miss the Sugar Plum theme of peppermint accessories and cupcake lights that are as sweet as your young ladies, or the outstanding Let It Snow area with lighted snowmen, peppermint poinsettias, black top hats, snowflake ornaments and mirrored accents.

Steve and his staff always have fun getting the store ready for the holidays, and this year was no exception. Specialty items fill the store, such as Kringle Candles – a new line from the original creators of Yankee Candle Company, and fun Light-Up reading glasses with their own tiny lights on the earpieces to read in the dark. Greenleaf Sachets and Candles feature holiday fragrances to fill your home with Christmas scents. Don’t miss the collection of DaVinci Beads that you can use to build a unique necklace or bracelet or add to an existing one.

Countryside can create gourmet Christmas gift baskets that anyone would love to receive, from clients at work to that hard-to-buy-for relative and everyone in between. With bags of holiday sour candies, Holland mints, peppermint twists, assorted chocolate caramels and soft mallow mixes, you will tempt their taste buds and treat their eyes with the gorgeous arrangement. Red velvet chocolate bars, wine glace mixes, jalapeno jellies, and flavored coffees are unique and tasty items to fill stockings. If you find yourself hosting friends and family, you’ll want to stock up on Wind & Willow dip mixes, Aspen Mulling Spices, Eggnog Mix and 90 second microwave Fudge Mix that tastes like it was made from scratch. Fruit baskets are also available for those who don’t want to be quite so naughty this holiday season.

Wire service is available to send flowers and plants across the United States and overseas. International orders should be placed by December 10 to ensure delivery before Christmas. Poinsettias and fresh Christmas greens are available now and give your home that authentic Christmas scent.

Store hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 from a.m. to 2 p.m. and Christmas Eve until 1 p.m. Come see Santa’s helpers at Countryside and you’re sure to walk away with your Christmas spirit intact and your shopping list finished in style.
