Founded in 1989 as Eastside Tire & Auto, the company became Discount Mike’s Tire & Automotive in 2005 when Mike Gauldin purchased it, and the rest, as they say, is history. Just as the original founders had done, Mike and his wife Patty put stock in the fact that hard work, superior products, fair prices, and outstanding customer service are the principal spokes in the wheel of success. With that cornerstone set, they also continually look for opportunities to give back to their community. “Broken Arrow has been good to us,” says Mike, “and we want to do our part by giving something back to the community.”

Last year the company built its beautiful new facility located at the corner of 81st & Lynn Lane. Just like the name says, Discount Mike’s provides high quality tires and automotive services at discounted prices. In addition to Bridgestone and Firestone tires, Discount Mike’s offers several other dependable and well-known brands.

If you haven’t yet stopped in for a visit, you should definitely do so. The new facility is spacious and clean, is decorated with pleasing colors and comfortable furniture, and has an assortment of vending machines and complimentary bottled water, coffee bar, and brewed tea. The customer-friendly lounge also includes a modern flat screen television for patrons to enjoy while waiting for services to their autos. Windows add to the openness of the sales area, and you can see into the service area to monitor the progress of work being performed on your vehicle. If it’s going to be a long wait, a Discount Mike’s employee will drive you home or to your place of employment.

Mike doesn’t just sell tires. The new facility was built to house a state-of-the-art alignment system that provides better information and faster alignment on virtually any vehicle. The shop also has a modern lift that will accommodate all makes and models, domestic and foreign; often a standard lift won’t permit some vehicles to be driven onto them because the cars are too low to the ground. In addition, all of Discount Mike’s technicians are ASE certified and trained.

Discount Mike’s genuinely appreciates the trust and confidence Broken Arrow and surrounding communities have placed in their operation. In return, Mike Gauldin is always looking for ways to give back to the community. The first eight days of July, Mike featured a tire sale that was truly a value. In those eight days, they sold nearly as many tires as they do in a typical month. “We’re always trying to think of ways we can give something back to our customers, especially with the current economic conditions,” says Mike. “This promotion was a good deal for customers and helped make them safer on our streets, so everyone benefited.”

In August, Mike gave away a beautiful Char-Broil 3-burner grill through a drawing. No purchase was necessary. He also donated $2 to Broken Arrow Neighbors for every tire he sold during the entire month. In addition, Mike is a Partner In Education with Broken Arrow Public Schools.
